The only recent title, that is somewhat like CSS with swords, that I kow of is the game your friend already mentioned: Dark Messiah of Might & Magic. Other than that you really have to consider Hack & Slay or RTS games!Â
I'd imagine Spartan Total Warrior is quite like 300, what with the "Warrior" and "Spartan"
obviously that is for PC and is a hack and slash, but never mind.
Rome total war is the obvious one. Even if you are not an RTS fan it is good.Â
It would be nice to have a game structured similar to the CoD games, but instead of guns it involves ancient, barbaric warfare. It would break the trend where only RTS or hacknslash can have that type of action. The game would give you the sense of fighting along side a large army, without actually having to manage. And it would be more linear to give it that theatrical flare that the CoD games have. And of course it must be very bloody and gorey.Qixoteplay guild wars, fury aoc

I've played Guild Wars. It's not at all what I was describing. That didn't involve huge armies; like every other fantasy rpg, it had a limited party size. And I was looking for something more historically authentic than fantasy.
I think I know what you mean. I'm not sure if there are any for PC, but PS2/Xbox has Dynasty Warrior and Xbox has Kingdom Under Fire. Dynasty Warrior is pure action, while Kingdom Under Fire has some elements of RTS. Both though aren't like the FPS that you mention since they are in third person mode. flipin_jackass
Theres Warriors Orrochi(features dynasty and samurai warriors) and Samurai Warriors 2 on the PC.

Thanks for the recommend! At least I got something out of this thread :P
You can manufacture instances like 300 in Dawn of War by using the right maps and armies. Check this out:
I held at this bottleneck for over an hour against relentless sieging. Beautiful.

Beautiful indeed. I played a map for WC3 called 300... but it wasn't really that good. As for the TC, like the example above, you can creat custom maps (or download maps that people created, on RTS games, specifically, those with heroes or commander units. Warcraft 3 has a nice map called DotA... but I think I'm deviating a bit your orignal request.
[QUOTE="lololo245"]well..you can get the game 300 on psp,thoE_Plisken
Wow, this punctuation is making me cringe. Why the hell did you put a comma betweeen psp and your "tho"
Wow.
Actually, that's gramatically correct if the rest of the post were to be fixed.
I'm not sure about games like 300 for the PC. You CAN get the game, "300" on the PSP, though.
There ya go.
