Are there any non-text based survival simulators?

Other than Oregon Trail, of course.

I have been looking for one for awhile, and all I can find currently is Project Zomboid, which is no more than a demo at the moment. I keep coming across random text based simulators, but being text based almost entirely defeats the purpose of it being a simulator. Hell, I would even take mods for games. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. would be a great game for a mod such as that. I somewhat had my hopes up for Dead Island, which don't get me wrong, I'm ejoying the game, but it is far from a true survival game even.

I've been looking for something like this but it's very hard to find. There are a few free games you can find online but none of them are even half decent (at least from what I've played).

Project zomboid seems like it'll be amazing when it's finally finished, but who knows when or even IF it'll be finished...

There are some good mods for fallout new vegas... but there's nothing really that makes it feel like a true struggle for survival.

Dwarf fortress

Just make sure you READ a lot about Dwarf Fortress before you play. Also watch lots of youtube walkthroughs. It's an incredibly complex game.

My god. I just finished watching a 7 minute "Lets Play" of Dwarf Fortress, and this game really does look complex as hell. I am definitely going to check this one out, and I will be sure to read up on it first. Thank you for bringing this game to my attention!

Have you checked Notrium, it's a free game released back in 2003 about surviving on an alien planet. It's the best game in the survival genre I'v played so far, and has quite good crafting system. Check it here: http://www.instantkingdom.com/notrium/

Notrium and Robinson's Requiem both also look awesome. Damn near a week of searching with no results, and I already have three games to get after posting this thread. Why didn't I make this sooner?

Thank you guys. These along with Project Zomboid when it gets out of it's pre-alpha stage should last me a few years. I spend a ton of time in games that I really enjoy.
