Hello,
Can you list some better PC games of any genre, old or new?
Don't forget, all the games must be superior to Baldur's Gate II in terms of overall quality, gameplay, etc.
This topic is locked from further discussion.
...lol, a little too subjective, don't you think? Personally I didn't like Baldur's Gate II much, so my list would be quite long and perhaps quite scandalous to some.
Anyways, here's just a few of my favorite games...
Knights of the Old Republic
The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind
Gothic 2
Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines
Diablo 2
...and moving out of RPGs...
Half Life 2
The Secret of Monkey Island
Full Throttle
Grim Fandango
Very subjective issue but in terms of overall polish, epicness, storytelling, npc character personalities...its very very hard to surpass BG/BG II.Hello,

I think the topic is great. I've been wondering about this too as it's hard to surpass Baldur's Gate 2 in overall quality . But some of the games that I think are at least as good as bg2 or come close are :

- diablo 2 + lord of destruction
- warcraft 3 + the frozen throne
- grim fandango
- civilization 4 + beyond the sword.
- No one lives forever 1 & 2
- Severance : Blade of Darkness
- Heroes of Might and Magic 3 ( lately homm5 has convinced me too )
- Baldur's gate 1
- Jade empire
- Knights of The old republic
- Vampire : The masquerade - Bloodlines ( especially with latest unofficial patch )
- Half-life 1 & 2

How about BioShock and GTA: San Andreas?

I knew I forgot something ... Those two are very good games too !
Quite a lot of people say Planescape : Torment but I just never got into it. The combat system is very clumsy compared to baldur's gate and I didn't find the dialogy that godly ( it's good though ).
as you can see in my sig...though I enjoy BG2:SoA->ToB (plus mods) more, I do consider Planescape Torment a better game.
Never played this game, but for I see is a RTS game and OBLIVION should be far good enough..Paperkut16Please do not try to compare oblivion is on the level as baulders gate 2 :/ oblivion is good but it is not that good.
well, the 2 first Fallouts are pretty much a given, it is pretty much impossible to pick one ofver the other, qualitywise, so it would come down to what you prefer.
It would be hard to pick newer games, because they are so much more advanced, and thus bugs are alot more plentiful, and noticeble.
If we are still talking polish wise that is ^^
I don't know.Try any RPG from Bioware.

Baldur's Gate 2 is good but i would not say its the best game ever made. Im not sure what the best game is... I like quiet alot of games and there is alot of games that i go back and play...

No one can claim a game as the best. However, I am curious about potentially better games in your opinion. Baldur's Gate II is high quality, well-polished, deep and addictive in my opinion.
People may utter games like Half-Life 2, Diablo, BioShock, etc. but I dont think any sensible gamer will state that NWN 2, Hellgate London, Dungeon Siege, etc are better than BG II.

I'm not a sensible gamer then, since I do think NWN2 beats Diablo and NWN2:MotB beats all three you mentioned.
Not better, but the only ones that come close to BGII imo are Planescape: Torment and Neverwinter Nights (Icewind Dale is also ok, but not as good).

lol...
The only PC games I put ahead of BG2 are Civilization IV, X-Com, Master of Orion, and Heroes of Might & Magic III. Those are the only games that are of equal or higher quality. And if you ask me tomorrow, the order will change. They're that close.
Since Planescape has been said over and over I will throw out the recommendation for Arcanum. Gameplay is polished IF you patch it and is just as fun as Baldur's Gate II for me. The only major difference is less of an emphasis on banter (you can still talk to people and have a lot of companions depending on your build) and more emphasis on exploration.

That s just my humble opinion.
This is a really subjective issue, you might get closer answers if you asked for a better RPG than Bauldur's Gate 2 (and even that is completely subjective, as different people have different preferences for settings).mirgamer
I see your point; but I believe there must be absolute worse and better games.
