Yep its quite surprising, but i'm running an evga 8800 gtx ko acs3 on my 375w dell psu.

As for the computer parts, take the core 2 duo and the silencer psu.

That's paying too much for an E6400, you can get an E6600 for less than that. If you do want an E6400, get the new 6420s instead since they have the faster FSB and are the same price (give or take $5 usually).

hmm what didnt come up was the other component i listed as thinking about buying This is; Asus P5N32-E-SLI 680i SLI 775 Quad Core - Mobo Which ones are best for easy OCing? and which ones are more bang for your buck type thing And will these work good with my current components? Also i went for the 6420 because i have heard that it is ultra easy to OC and get running up to around 3ghz, and i also have to try to avoid spending too much money BTW are these components easy to fit? Ive done a couple of GFX cards and such, and memory but no PSUs or Mobos? Is it easy enough to DIY it?

I built a PC today using similarish components. It's not hard to do, just be patient and a little more cautiious if it's your 1st time.

The Asus boards are good. I think any 680i based board is going to be a good OCer and the one you chose is very popular. It and the eVGA 680i are probably the 2 most popular 680i boards judging by my anecdotal evidence :)

The 6420 with that board would be a nice toy and apparently an OC to 3ghz is almost guaranteed on the 64XX.

I'm a bit iffy on the 680i series of boards. A lot of people have had trouble with them (not for OC, but for stuff like I/O operations).

I recommend:
- Core 2 Duo E6420
- Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3 (rev3.3)
- Seasonic/Corsair 550w PSU

It'll take some time, but it's easy to replace the mobo and PSU. Just take your time. :/

I got the latest revisions of evga's 680i board, solid as a rock, much better than previous iterations, which i've had my hands on in the past. As you said, they've had problems with it, but getting the A1 revision of the evga 680i will solve that, as well as the issues quad-core users have trying to get higher stable overclocks. Oh and don't forget to get the latest bios if you're in the market for one of those boards.

Yes, you can get BIOS updates from the motherboard manufacturers website.
