Are you still buying it in wake of the security news?

I for one am still buying it. The issue of having to be connected to the net is certainly odd for the SP but it shouldn't create too many problems at least for me.

If I remember correctly it was posted that AC2 would be 60$ for PC. That is enough for me to become a no for any game.

Considering the new security measures and the first game of the franchise, yeah right...

Yes I can, because There are way more games out there that were pirated just as much if not more.(MW2 being an example, which is same dang price, more hype, and can be played offline.) Hell, Borderlands Publisher realized something; that no matter what, there will be people who will crack your stuff. they have no DRM. if they don't want pirating, make it steam activateable, not this stupid crap. All they are doing is making the little bit of chump change they were going to get become nothing but a bird bath of pennies.

It takes a lot of effort to make a somewhat working anti-piracy system.

It takes more effort to make a somewhat working anti-piracy system that doesn't screw the customer.

It takes even more effort and either a lot of gall or a lack of reasoning to say they are right in screwing customers, as long as piracy is reduced, considering they even heightened the price by 10$.

Don't you see something very, very wrong with this? They are selling the game for 60$ applying piracy countermeasures that will once again screw the customers and leave people that pirates to laugh at you, on a game that is months old, can you really say you don't blame them?

And it's still cheaper than what the consolites get, since we have better graphics and DLC.

$60 for a port of a game that came out 4 months ago and which also includes one of the more ridiculous and draconian anti-piracy measures? Nope, not a chance I'll buy it. Even if they got rid of the silly online garbage I will never pay $60 for a PC game. I don't support greed, ever. Maybe I'll wait a month or two for it to hit the bargain bin and, even then, it's still a questionable buy. AC1 was a terrible, terrible game.

At least you get both the DLC packs with the game. So its more content than when the vanilla console version came out. Just a question: do you realise that here in Australia that games cost anything from $79 to $110 (au) right? Like you have it ridiculously cheaper than here even at $60.

I feel for you Aussies, I really do. What's the justification for those insane prices?

At any rate, $60 is still $10 more than the standard game price here and, even with the DLC added, I still don't see it as a good deal. DA:O came with free download content. Mass Effect (1&2) did too. I simply can't find a good reason, other than greed, that explains this price increase.

I get that consoles games cost $10 more than their PC counterparts because that money goes to the hardware manufacturer (Microsoft or SONY) in the form of licensing fees. On the PC there are no such fees so it just seems like a cash grab. Add in the DRM and it gets even more absurd.

Not a chance. DRM really does just encourage piracy. Developers need to understand that their things are going to get cracked. Its inevitable. When they add stuff like this, more people are going to do it because they don't want the hassle of having to activate online/stay online whilst in use/only have 3-5 installs. Its ridiculous.

If you ask me Ubisoft already had the perfect "anti-piracy" scheme, the first Ass Creed was so mind numbingly dull, repetitive and such a blatantly obviously crap port that no one in their right mind would even waste the bandwidth on Ass Creed 2.

I am not intentionally boycotting Ass Creed 2 because of the draconian DRM. I am boycotting it on the grounds the game is crap anyway :D . I really wish they would keep these type of console games OFF the PC, there clearly isn't a market for this kind of game on the PC hence it sold like crap.

I held off buying a ps3 version to get the PC version. Always online doesn't worry me yet, I'll happily try the service out. Given ubisoft's track record on PC I wouldn't be too surprised if they stuff it up, or pirates crack it prior to release :P

Requiring an Internet connection isn't bad, for multiplayer games of course! As a customer, it sounds too risky investing my money for a singleplayer game when you're thinking from a long term perspective, this results in a clear decision to buy a different game.

I purchased AC on launch day and I was disappointed. One of the easiest games I had ever played(Complete absence of critical thinking in strategies).

Highly doubtful I'll be picking this up on release for the PC.

It's actually extremely rare that I completely skip a game because of DRM, but typically when a game requires some sort of online activation/authentication I've been waiting for significant price drops before buying the game. As a result, EA has been getting alot of my "top dollar" purchases lately for example with their disc-check only DRM.

Ubi is certainly entitled to try to combat piracy though, which is a very real problem. Who knows, maybe this won't be that bad actually and have some benefits. However, for now these types of games will be picked up as bargains --- although in this case if I don't wait, I might just get AC2 on the PS3 (a co-worker has been raving about it).

lol. Waiting so long after consoles just to play their damned game? Paying $60 for a $50 game? Needing to jump through ****ing hoops to play the game I waited months to pay $60 for? You can guess whether or not I'm buying AC2.

Well since it hasn't been released yet on the PC it would be a bit hard for me to have played it :P and I don't do consoles my view is why drive a Lada when you have a Ferrari. As for Ubisoft improving things, I take reviews with a truck load of salt these days so far from what I have seen of Ubisoft with the 4 month delay and now this draconian DRM it is hard to see they bothered improving anything.

I naturally would take an opportunity to try the demo out though ................ oh wait they aren't even bothering with a demo (something suspicious about that). To be honest it seems to me as if Ubisoft are saying "no we don't want your money don't buy our products". Now if that is the message they are wanting to put across I don't mind heeding it.

I already bought it for the X360, but it was one of my favorite games of 2009. I could see myself picking it up for the PC if / when it comes up on sale. For now though I'm going to wait. While it's up to everyone to decide what they feel about the DRM and price, the game itself is outstanding, it does a very good job of fixing the issue of the first one.

I was intrested in seeing how the game was because my friend said its a huge improvement over AC1. However after reading about their new "anti pirate system" (that wont help for **** by the way) i wont... We will see if i can be bothered to "get" the game later...

i dunno if i'll buy it... i was looking forward to it but after this always online thing i have doubts. Ubisoft lost a lot of money thanks to poor Avatar game, and few bad marketing decisions. Looks like after implementing new anti-piracy mesures things will get worse for Ubisoft... I only hope that they won't put that crap to Splinter Cell Conviction...

No I said the FIRST ONE sucked and I can't see the second one being any better. Ass Creed is a typical console game which is probably why I don't like it now the steps that Ubisoft are doing do not exactly convince me that they have changed the game for the better. I seriously have to wonder why Ubisoft are even bothering with Ass Creed 2 on the PC. Especially with this massively invasive DRM they have effectively killed off any chance of decent sales on the PC.

Now judging from the poll here I can see I am not the only one that feels this way. What Ubisoft has done with the 4 month delay, the increased price and invasive DRM has effectively killed off Ass Creed on the PC but who wants to bet they will blame piracy for the low sales eh ?

I loved AC1, so I'm definitely buying the sequel! As for the new anti-piracy measures, I can get over it as long as the game is sound. Besides, pirates will find a work-around for this within a week; if I boycotted the game, the lost sale would just be attributed to piracy.
