Yep, all the time, the only game I can play "solo" is TMUF, but I mostly play games that my frieds play so that I chat with them, it's way more fun that way (the reason I play WoW now :/).

But there are some games that are extremely fun like DoW II, Empire, Sacred 2..

Yeah sort of. Lack of games holding my interest. Still playing old games. New ones seem like rehashes of everything I've already played.

I find myself playing less each month. It would be great to see some truly captivating plots and gaming environments, but everything's starting to feel a bit samey. I don't know if that's just a result of growing older or whether it reflects a real trend in game design, but I feel like all my time gaming is spent in dingy dungeons or on recycled battlefields.

It's like the technology is out there to do great things but we're seeing the same rehashed game ideas we were ten years ago. I keep holding my breath for the Molyneuxs and Will Wrights to deliver, but projects keep falling short of promises. Who knows... maybe with the growth of DD and the associated fall in distribution and marketing costs, smaller studios will begin to get a look in and investors will be willing to take a risk on more adventurous concepts.

It comes and goes. Other interests, work, family, costs of upgrade and moving house are all factors in a trough of gaming. It always comes back - weeks, months or years, it always comes back. 8)

I think this current gen of games is pretty stagnant. Maybe the recession is partially to blame, but devs seem to play it too safe with offering more of the same. Of course, it doesn't really help when games that try to think outside the box, such as Spore, fall far short of expectations.

the only game I engrossed in recently is the nancy drew series which I've never thought of it could be quite satisfying and entertaining. I guess I just spend too much time on game of the same genre, especially first person shooter.

I've been watching movies instead of gaming for consistent extended periods. The games I have been playing are casual fun like Anno 1701, Wii games, and I've considered getting some point and click adventure games.

I don't know if I am bored with games as much as I am bored with this current "next-generation" of lowest common denominator games. I still play Fallout 1 & 2, Icewind Dale, Baldur's Gate, Wizardry, etc. but there's not really anything new or recently announced that excites me. There are a few indie RPGs I have my eye but other than that, all I see is drek coming from the major publishers and studios.

I think it is good to have other interest and do other stuff. When I have a long week of work and I get to play one of two hour of gaming I really enjoy it. Games now have became dumbed down, but there are still good experiences. Even if these are dumbed down versions of classics, Bioshock and Fallout 3 were pretty amazing and had a lot of the WOW factor, which I think it is somewhat missing from gaming. One of the problems is hype. We've been so hyped by games like Spore and then when they get released they don't live up to expectations. And when Crysis was about to be released I was so excited for the quality of its graphics, but after it there wasn't much of an advancement in that regard. I think that when Rage gets released we will see a new leap in quality graphics as it is usual when ID releases a game. But anyway developers may not forget other aspects that make games good: gameplay. And that is where casual gaming, instead of being an annoyance is being a relief. Plant Vs. Zombies has better gameplay and is most fun than most AAA games out there. Developers should start to take note. Also indie gaming like World of Goo gives us unique experiences only equivalent to those of Portal in commercial gaming. Anyway I think it is a good time to be a PC gamer. Changes will come soon before we get all bored.

I feel the same way. The problem is a lot of games now days look really great from an artistic point of view but lack a decent storyline. For me, thats why I stopped playing games like WoW and Everquest because it just turns into one big grind fest. My friend was telling me about a game called Battle Messenger that is suppose to be coming out soon that looks pretty promising. Their websites not up yet but they have a facebook page that says the official site will be up monday. I just want an online game that actually has an exciting story attached to it.

From what I am reading here the themes seem to be:

Lowest common denominator video gaming -- Companies play it safe, this nets them cash and caters to the casuals, but not real gamers.

Lack of story.

Lack of atmosphere.

No originality.

It does feel as if the gaming industry is turning into the movie industry, where most finished products are complete ****, and a small minority are worth playing.

I'm slowly pulling away from gaming. I don't want to but it just isn't the same. As a kid I could enjoy pretty much anything. Now all I see is problems with most modern games and it ends up being a huge turnoff. Games haven't changed a whole lot since I really enjoyed them, but I definitely have.

Yep.. fewer and fewer games hold my interest and I've noticed my play sessions never going beyond 1hr and 30mins. It's a good thing but I've never really thought of it much. SC2, TOR and D3 will hold me over for quite a while when I get all of them.

Once in a while I like to take a week or so break from gaming, but have no real desire to completely stop.
