Not sure why it doesn't mention it on the steam home page, or maybe I'm just late to the party. But either way, ArmA 2 at $25 is an awesome deal that I might just have to take advantage of :D

sale is at gamersgate.com as well CONFIRMED by me (I looked)
This game is definetly worth the $25. A lot of the bugs have been ironed out and the multiplayer is booming more than ever.
Yeah, now i'm curious myself. Before I consider a purchase of this game, is it stable compared to release day or what?

Dwarden
it's way stabler (e.g. compared to demo) and we are working on the rest of issues for upcoming update(s)
When can we expect to see these?
I don't understand what you mean. The steam install is exactly the same as the standard disc version with the exception of a steam compatible executable. I've used mods in a few Steam games no problems. Its just sometimes games are installed under the Steam directory and not in a seperate one so the files are not aways where you expect...maybe thats what you mean.Shame that it's on sale on Steam and not D2D or Gamersgate. Steam's version just isn't as mod friendly.

Some Arma mods and total conversions alter the .exe or use an alternate .exe file. These mods won't work with the Steam version of the game. Further, Steam users cannot join some multiplayer servers that use mods. This is an issue with other Steam versions of games such as Medieval II Total War, and Silent Hunter III.

i will kill this urban myth flat out
there are no mods editing binary of ARMA 2 ... it would trigger our internal copy protection ...
any normal mod working with retal will also work with STEAM , Impulse , GamersGate , GamesLoad, Xfire, Metaboli, Sprocket or w/e else online service You bought the game from ...
so please don't comment about things You not informed enough...

so instead of ignoring my post, you can go look on gamersgate.com like I said and buy it there if you don't like the steam version, but as dwarden said... steam version doesn't impair any modding capabilities

I didn't say ArmA II, did I? I said ArmA and yes, there are mods that won't work with the Steam version of ArmA. Therefore, I don't like using Steam for any game when alternative sources are available. If you say ArmA II from Steam is fully functional with mods, that's great, but as for me, I still wouldn't buy it from Steam.
Simardbrad. Good find on Gamersgate.

It shows it on the Spotlight section to the right, either that or the Killing Floor free weekend. It sounds like something I need to get, especially since I'm getting bored of run 'n' gun multiplayer. I just might give it a whirl.
Also, I've seen you post before and it only occurred to me now that your sig is 'Spartacus' and your avatar is '1930.' Refreshing to see some DCI lovers on these forums. :D
I'm considering it buy I played the demo before it came out and really didn't like it so I will probably skip it again.

The demo was really bad. However since update 1.04 many many errors have been fixed. They should update the demo to suit the latest patch.
i rewatched Black Hawk Down yesterday and strangely enough, it made me wanna play this game (instead of DF: Black Hawk Down, i know, it's odd). anyway, i tried the demo, and though it didn't impress me very much, i like how the weapons are handled in the game. might just get it very soon.
URGGGHHH stop comparing the game to the demo, I hate when people do that. The demo NEVER represents the final game.
The game has been improved so much since the demo. I've had to tell the same thing to 7 friends (who all play the game now)

Same to you :D I actually marched in BDB this summer. Seeing another DCI fan on these forums is like spotting big foot :lol:Will this game run on max on 1680 x 1050 with a 4890? And is it good for a FPS player who loves Battlefield 2/2142? Does it have singleplayer skirmish or something equiv. or is it campaign only?gigatrainer
not on max because max in games like ARMA 2 needs top notch hardware (SSD drive, HD58xx card)
but it will run fine on High to very high with some tweaks in viewdistances, AAand so on ...
there is Armory and some scenario missions for non campaign SP, also there is feature rich mission editor
Expansion you say?demo is way older build up2date full version ...
i can't really tell if it will be updated before Expansion for A2 is released ...

yes the expansion is standalone but the great thing is You will be able use ARMA 2 content in it with all the bonus features (e.g. Infra Red system (proper material heat emit etc...))The expansion is stand-alone right? I'm wondering if I should just wait for that to come out....
Rob_101
not to mention we got some other surprises on the way for both A2 and A2:OA

better server admin? as in RCON... that's a big need for ArmA2. Don't know how many times my server is full and I can't get in to ban somebody.
[QUOTE="ZuluEcho14"]demo is outdated compared to updated retail ... Still I'm not taking the chance until I can upgrade my PC.I would buy it, but the demo didn't run at a disarable framerate. :(

But then the game probably won't be on sale for $25. I just bought it, even tho didn't run great on my pc... but I'm kinda saving this game till I upgrade ;)
