OK, so ArmA II has been patched to the point where it is stable and singleplayer is excellent. Despite my earlier gripes (simarbard you know what I mean lol), I always knew ArmA II was a solid game and I am happy to be proven right.

But, to the point: I've been craving an online FPS for a quite a long time; Counterstike is old and stale and frankly TF2 isnt half of what TFC was imo, and with the recent drought of sims on the market I figure ArmA II is the perfect combination of two genres (online FPS and simulations) for me.

So, hopefully you guys (this means you, mod-who-has-ArmA-sig-yet-who's-name-escapes-me-atm) can fill me in on the best way to get into it. I have a lot to learn, but I learn quickly given a proper teacher, and sims were basically a part of my childhood (I remember when I got Falcon 4.0 it was packaged with a binder of literature).

I don't know how it works, but in most games I tend to favor the support classes (medic, engineer, etc), and I make an excellent helicopter pilot in ArmA II...I love to just go to the map editor, load up a chopper, and cruise around.

The best way would be to join a clan like the Royal marines or Silent Warriors. Multiplayer is very active, the most popular mode is Evolution. Basically 1 giant co-op game where do objectives in the game world. Yes you can solely play as support classes, especially as a chopper pilot.

PS. Most people use ACE 2 mod online.

Hahahah I got a call out, think that's the first time I saw that. I'm glad you've come to enjoy ArmA 2 now that you've patched it up to the latest. It's really a great game that most people can't see unfortunately.

Come play some Warfare with me sometime on my server.

Find the Tactical Gamer server and visit their website. Or try to join Shack Tactical. At least in North America, those two groups are excellent. For Europe I would say 6th Sense EU are to be suggested.
