So my computer has recently shown some artifacting (in games like League of Legends and Starcraft 2). Afterwards, the screen blinks a few times then the entire computer crashes (I have to restart the computer to fix this which is a real pain when I'm in the middle of a game)... I have already updated and reinstalled the most recent gpu drivers though that did not work... Does this mean that I have to buy a new graphics card?

It's either overheating or your gpu is on it's way out.

Probably.

My temps are normal (45-50 Celsius)...

If those are in idle, under load they could go up to over 80°C. While video-cards can stand those temps, some don't and show artefacts or even close down. Others freeze and make you re-boot your computer...

Get your hands on MSI afterburner to monitor temps during gameplay...
