Artificially increase the resolution?

Hey, i remember seeing a user post on how there is a program that can bump up your monitor's resolution and refresh rate, im wondering if any of you know about it?

How come my old 17' CRT monitor could go beyond my new 22' LCD's 1680 x 1050?f-a-d-3

CRT monitors have no problem going up to really high resolutions. LCDs work differently.

Is 1680X1050 a decent resolution?xid32
