STALKER has an amazing feel, plus the scale is huge, its not easy to get into but it is well worth the rewards, its got a lot of depth.

The thing i liked about fallout 3 and all rpgs really is grinding for that next dope weapon or exploring to find the dope equipment. Does stalker have lots of hidden goodies and loot.[QUOTE="tenaka2"][QUOTE="streetridaz"] i never gave stalker much of a shot. Sorry to steal you thread but sell me on stalker. In stalker, you really have to work to get results, and every step into a trange area may be your last....you may die from something you cant even fight back against. You need to eat, watch your radiation, heavily watch your weight and item conditions, ammo, ammo types, etc. The environment at night can also vary heavily from during the day. There's nothing in the stalker games to lead you around, you have to go out and get things done on your own...one of the reasons I love the series so much compared to today's carebear games
Im a HUGE stalker fan, I will do my best to list a few games I THINK you might enjoy.
- Fallout New Vegas - Better then Fallout3 in every single way besides the radio stations (get this and stay away from F3 imo). You can get some mods for this that make it ALOT harder and more like Stalker (try the mod made by one of the devs year or two after the game came out. Makes teh game alot more challenging). One of hte only games Ive played as many tiems over as teh stalker games, alot of replayability.
- Singularity - This one is a shooter and not really that much like Stalker, but it has great atmosphere like Stalker and has a very fun campaign. A bunch of my friends who really only play stalker games, liked this one to.
- Cryostasis - Great game btu optimized really bad, worth a try though!
Others that might be worth a try is Deus Ex HR and EYE
You Are Empty.
The gameplay and enemy design are about as terrible as Stalker's beta. But the atmosphere, especially when you reach the city about 40 minutes in... motherofgod.jpg! You can see my screenshots here. It also has a brilliant sound design.
Also play Fallout 1.
Absolutely, I remember playing that game and loving it a while back. I even think I did a user review on it...You Are Empty.

Sadly to this day there is no substitute for STALKER. noobzoerPretty much this. It is such a unique game. Metro 2033 has great atmosphere like STALKER, but it's extremely linear.
Fallout New Vegas (The gameplay is better than 3, and the guns are better)
Metro 2033 - Its STALKER without the open world.
Far Cry 2 Maybe? It has an open world and you shoot things :?
Xenus 2: White Gold http://www.gamersgate.com/DD-XENUS2/xenus-2-white-gold Precursors http://www.gamersgate.com/DD-PREC/precursors Haven't played either of them, but supposedly they are very similar in design/concept. Basically open world FPS/RPG hybrids with lots of weapons, NPC's, and stuff like that. They are also supposedly very rough around the edges and buggy like STALKER. E.Y.E: Divine Cybermancy http://eye.streumon-studio.com/ Not as open world, but very deep FPS with lots of options. Difficult though and clunky interface.Renevent42
I played through them all and they are very rough around the edges. But they are also full of surpises and interesting mechanics, loved them all.
