Ok, I think AC looks like an amazing game. Seeing reviews, READING reviews, and watching videos had made me want to try this game, but I have some questions...

~ Do you need to buy the original Asheron's Call before you buy Throne of Destiny?

~ Is there a demo version I can try before deciding about subscribing?

That is pretty much it. If you think this game is bad because of the graphics and you call yourself an RPG or MMORPG fan, you need to rethink what kind of games you like... Because everything I have seen about this game states that WoW vs. AC is no comperison, AC wins... People say AC is the best MMO ever, and one of the best RPGs. So, if anyone plays this game or knows the answers to my questions, please reply...

Well...I played AC 2 for a while (my first MMO), and it was pretty fun.  I am not sure if AC is anything like AC 2, but if it is, WoW blows it out of the water.

AC 2 is ABSOULETLY nothing like AC 1...idk even no y its called that...seriously i was dissapointed so much when AC 2 came out...if they had a updated AC 1 version vs. WoW .... AC 1 would definetly win....but..AC 1 is a little outdated so theres really no point in going in to it....on the other hand WoW is a great game to get in to cause its newer

hehe, makes sense.

What the difference between the two?  Curious on why the first is so much better.

it has numerous things...like the PVP...lifestones when u die....WAY better combat system..archers actually need to buy arrows..the amount of people playing when the game came out..portals ...enchants and buffs..quests..being like a life mage kicked ass cause u can like hide behind a wall and life tap them....the controls are better......overall it was a wAY better game.

AC1 was completed skill-based.  Your level really didn't have alot to do with how good you were at anything because there wasn't classes.  You spent skill points to purchase skills and then spent your hard-earned exp to increase them, and also your stats were increase by experience spending.  The amount of skills you could purchase were pretty decent and you could make some really unique characters.  Like Archers who can buff themselves and then whip out the bow and do really good damage.  Or mages who would be proficient in swords.  All that mattered was what you wanted to become and you could do pretty much anything.

I never played AC2, but from what I saw, you would have a skill tree and purchase your skills off of that and pretty much everyone purchased the same skills and there wasn't too much for being unique in it.  But that's just from what I hear.  I'm sure it was better than that.

Ya thats the jist of it, but it wasn't that cut and dry.  You chose a basic tree (magic, melee, ect) and then later on could pick another elite skill tree.  So there was *some* customization.  Each race had it's own classes too, so the Tummie melee classes were not the same as the Luggy's melee classes.  But in the end, most people did choose cutter cutter builds.  Towards the end, they added some cool stuff like hero points and stuff, but I think it was way too late and it was already dying.

TOD comes with AC1 so no you don't need to buy AC1 before buying TOD. Also, there is no demo that I know of.

World of Warcraft isn't a good game. It doesn't take any skill... Mages only have to stand in one spot and press the Firebolt button. How hard is that? And once you hit max level, all you can do is try to get better armor and gloat about your level to noobs...

People still play Asheron's Call, and I hope that it doesn't shut down. That would be a shame since the game looks amazingly fun. I think AC would be a game I would actually play for years... People have been playing AC for 8 years since beta back in 1999 or something... That says a lot... I still want to try it.

No one has answered my questions... Is there a demo and do you need the original to play Throne of Destiny..?

If you're looking for a demo, the official web site is probably the best place to go. It's not that great of a game, though. It has all of the things you don't like about WoW, but with half the quality. The same developer is shipping Lord of the Rings Online soon. You'd probably be better off trying the open beta for that game or the free trial of D&D Online, also by the same developer.

Yeah, but the game also has everything WoW does badly... The level/ skill system is better, better and more quests, nicer community, excelent community, world that changes every month, and it doesn't have 60+ servers which is a good thing...
