I've played AC1 before on my computer a year back, now it's the same computer but when I tried to play, it lags every time when I kill a person. All weapons were used and had the same bug, but the running and everything else seems fine.

Anyone had or has this problem? If you know how to fix it, I would be very grateful.

Thanks in advance to anyone who's reading/ commenting on this.

run notepad as an administrator, then navigate to Computer/Local Disk C/Windows/System32/drivers/etc, then on the bottom right hand corner change the option from Text Document to All Files and open the file named Host, once you are there add the exact same line bellow to the last line of your host file:

216.98.48.53 127.0.0.1
216.98.48.18 127.0.0.1
216.98.48.57 127.0.0.1
216.98.48.133 127.0.0.1

then save and close and your problem should be gone.

What exactly does this do to fix the lag issue? It seems as though it only lags during kills or save updates. For instance when I find a new flag it lags or when I kill someone it lags. It did also lag when I started a timed guard assassination mission. Would be nice to get it back to working like it did about a month ago when I took a break from it.

I researched this a little more and basically you need to block access to ubisoft for whatever reason if I'm not mistaken. I tried doing this and it appears to break my hosts file (always make a copy before playing around with system files) so it isn't working but I did try the unplug from internet trick and it does work that way. Unbelievable. I don't know if this is a Steam fail or Ubisoft fail but whoever made the change needs to revert to an older setting because it is not reasonable to have to disconnect my internet connection everytime I want to play Assassin's Creed.

strange, I modified my host file and never had issue, it actually does nothing to break your host file, you can delete the lines if you want to, and no it has nothing to do with Steam, its all on Ubisoft **** server side.
