Hello. I have an question. In all of my games my 8700K got temps like 70-85C max. But playing Assassins Creed Origins ,on Alexandria city temps are balancing between 90C to spikes 100C on 1 core. There is no throttling. And my question is can i still play or stop it?

My 8700K is with cooler Cryorig M9i.

Asus Z370 Pro Gaming. MCE is automatically ON with XMP profile.

So clock is high 4700mhz. Thanks for opinion.

WTF, just stop playing this thing and google a solution to your problem, I'd consider lowering the clocks or reapplying thermal paste - cleaning off dust etc.

Does other games make such temps as well?

70-85c is still too hot.... even for everything else.... Get a better cpu cooler.

What program are you checking temps with?

The 8700K can handle those temps but its maximum TJ is 100c so if you are hitting that its bad.

The CPU is not recommended for use with a entry level cooler and definitely the stock intel cooler, I would highly recommend looking at something with 4-6 heatpipes, something along the lines of a Noctua 12s or a BeQuiet Dark Rock 3.

Also what case do you have?... Case airflow seems to be missing from current case designs with the idiotic use of glass and aluminium front panels blocking most if not all intake. Make sure your case has a intake fan and a exahuast fan on the opposite side so it can be front to back or back to front or even down to up... As long as you are pulling fresh air and volume and its being exhausted out your case efficiently you should be good.

Yeah seriously dude those temps are insane. You need to look into a better cooler preferably with a larger heatsink and look up proper air flow for your case in order to get that hot air out.

You need a cpu cooler with a 120mm fan at least.

Turn off the MCE feature, it overvolts the crap out of everything, I guarantee your temps will be significantly lower.

If you really really want the extra 300mhz then play with your voltages manually.

Did you overclock with AI Suite III? If so, it overvolts like crazy. I've seen that software put 1.40+ volts on a CPU which drives up the temps quick. If you didn't use the software to OC, what did you set your volts at?

Dear Lord, those temps are way to high,

My 8700K at 4.8 never reaches 50c but then again I delided mine and is under custom loop. but even when I had a AIO LC and no Delid it never reached 75c. and those temps are under 100% CPU Stress test not gaming. something is horribly wrong with either cooler, case airflow, voltages u set on your CPU or combination of all or some.

First of all, remove the cooler and repaste it with only a pee size drop of thermal paste preferably MX-4 and don't tightening it too much. then go to your bios and for start set your core multiplayer to 45, set your CPU Voltage to manual and set it to 1.15v, then report back with your results.

Use liquid cooling for CPU overclocks.
