You can buy the Mixamp separately. If you're just looking for a headphone amp and surround processor, though, the Turtle Beach Ear Force DSS 7.1 is a better value. While I don't usually recommend Turtle Beach, their amp is actually a great value at ~$70 considering what you get in terms of connectivity and processing. Bozthx
but how do the beyerdynamic sound with the mixamp ? does it work ?

From their own site, "Delivers realistic 5.1-channel sound from any set of headphones...Dolby Headphone accurately creates the sensation of up to five loudspeakers in a room using powerful digital signal processing (DSP) technology." The Dolby Headphone Turtle Beach PX5, for example, only has two speakers (two 50mm drivers). The same with the Astro A40's: two 40mm drivers. Read the HEADPHONE "SURROUND SOUND" EXPLAINED section of the Headphone FAQ in these forums for details on headphone surround sound. TL:DR - "Surround Sound" should be ignored when deciding on one pair of headphones versus another. Boz
Dolby headphones is pretty neat, the xonar dg has that feature and I paired it with my Klipsch s4 which sounds amazing for music mimicking a sounded room though is kind of fake.
