Astro A40s. They are simply soo much better and the Mixamp can be hooked up to the PC and PS3 at the same time. Tritons don't exactly have the best Mic either. Astros are the way to go if you have the money for them and the Mixamp.

My recommendation: neither.

Go for a pair of nice headPHONES along with a desktop mic (or clip-on, though most have inferior quality vs the desktop) and the astro mixamp.

For the same price as the A40's (or less) you can get MUCH better quality.

If you didnt notice then, i want to use the headset FOR GAMING mostly not just for commentating. I want to be able to chat with my friends on ps3.

You should ask this question at the headphones faq. Boz will help you better.

Bowelss is at the right direction. Sennheiser, Audio technica, Akg >>> gaming headsets, the sound quality + built quality just trounces them for the same money.

Oh my smart dear, your thang must of not dropped yet therefore you lack the ability to read and do your own research instead of asking others for help. B.c you can buy a fricken clip microphone to the headphones, therefore you dont need your cruddy headset, but hey I dont think you can hear the difference anyway so buy it keep it simple.

...Yeah, I noticed? Which is why I recommended a desktop/clip-on mic to go along with the headphones (which, depending on what you get, will offer far superior sound quality). If you don't care about sound quality, I wouldn't recommend getting anything past the 720's, which is the only decent deal on a gaming headSET.

Yeah, I clearly shouldn't have responded. Good luck with your headset of choice.

That should be good, and yes, you can split audio with them. And to all the people offering cheap, half-A'd ideas he was just asking between the two. The Astros are a very good quality and will last you much longer than TBs and probably longer than tritons.

Cheap and half-A'd. Hmmm.

I personally have a pair of Denon AH-D2000's that I use for gaming (PS3/360/PC) and use a clip-on mic/the Mixamp with them. Never realized how cheap and half A'd my setup is vs Astro (Skullcandy) headsets.

Your comment only serves to show your own ignorance. Further, by insulting someone trying to help you, you have displayed a childish arrogance. You see what I did there? I insulted you. What have we gained from this insult? You did not get an answer, your feelings may be hurt, and if you're intelligent you would probably feel a bit ashamed, and you would probably feel like responding in-kind with your own insult (and so it goes). I don't feel much better either, because I haven't accomplished anything. All I am doing by insulting you is pushing away someone that might otherwise have learned something new from interacting with me in a more positive manner.

So, as an aside, I would recommend not insulting other users. Bikouchu35 is certainly not an idiot, and is only trying to offer you suggestions. Stay positive, and you'll get more positive feedback. ;)

More on-topic, a headset is just a headphone with a microphone attached. Your Gamespot peers are suggesting rather than buying a headset, you instead consider buying a regular pair of headphones and a microphone to use with your PS3 and PC (Example of regular headphones and mic). It's a little more work, but you'll typically save money and get a superior product.

Happy gaming,

Boz

Having used Astro A40 with an Astro Mixamp, owning the AX 720, owning a mixamp with Sennheisers HD 600s - I'd say I know quite a bit when it comes to gaming headphones.

But you know what? Seeing how you treated the posters above me - **** you ;)
