The GTS is a better card, but I've never heard of "Point of View".

I have been told to go for the GT due to the price/performance ratio.

I'm not sure how prices are in the UK, but here in the states the GTS isn't much more and is worth the extra price for the performance. About 15% or so I believe.

However, looking on that eBuyer site, apparently the GTS is significantly more expensive than the GT. I guess I'd get the GT if I were in your shoes.

I'm not real up-to-date on exchange rates, but isn't 30 pounds like $60USD? I don't think the improvement from the 8800GT to the 8800GTS is worthy $60.

I'd go with the GT ive got it and it runs great with pretty much every modern game :) . Plus the difference between the GT and GTS isnt that great not worth spending much more money over anyway...

GTS no competition. A mere $60 for a better card with better cooling, greater OC-ability.

The difference between GT and GTS is Crysis on High or Very high.

The GTS has a better cooling also because of the dual-slot cooling. So GTS is much cold than GT and you can overclock the GTS even more.

To overclock the GT you need to take the fan to 80-90% which is noisy or get another cooler=you get GTS price.

So my advice is GTS

It's a close one. I'm still gonna say the 8800GT is the best performance for the money. Although if you have the means, the 8800GTS is a very nice card. Not quite worth the extra cash, but very nice.

No it has 128 stream processors.

If you have the money than surely the 512MB GTS is worth it.And 30 pounds may equal $60 but that's not the way it goes.

Honestly, it worths especially if those couple backs wont harm you. First of all you will have at least 10% stock performace at stock. Secondly, its cooler is way better than 1 slot at GT which means you will have better temps, therefore, more space to OC to higher clocks to give you even more and more performance. Finally, its really quiet when you compare it to the GT

Get the point of view.

GTS 512MB is better than 512MB GT...if it was the 320MB GTS, then you would get the GT.

Just overclock your GTS, and it should be better than the GT

and even if it was the 640mb GTS

640mb GTS is not that goos compared to the 512mb GT or GTS, but since this is the 512 GT vs the 512 GTS i say the GTS a better card,

everyone kust says to get the GT but with better OC'ing because if the coolin, and if you wanna put a dual slot fan on the GT you have to pay for taht and it also voids the warranty i think

I'd get the 8800GT. The GTS isn't worth $60 IMO.. maybe $20-30 more. :)

Um, this shouldn't be about votes. Nobody has really highlighted this explicitly, and you should be aware of it. The GTS is about 10-15% better for 20% more cost. As such that's bad value.

Personally if I was buying a graphics card right now I would go for the GTS anyway, but I already bought an 8800GT the day they came out :P If you're willing to shell out 160 on a card, what's 30 quid... www.scan.co.uk are a more reputable components supplier and for 1pound more you could get a Leadtek or Gainward GTS card, who are more reputable companies. I'm not sure if you get free delivery on ebuyer though...They also sell some MSI, Leadtek, Gigabyte 8800GT's with big overclocks for the same price as that ebuyer one, some of them using custom coolers.

Note for all: The reference fan on the 8800GT is now larger than that of the first gen 8800GT cards. You don't need to have the fan running loudly. I have one of the XFX original factory OC cards which just happen to have the larger fan which all reference cards do now (luck). It runs at around 50% speed in games and the temp is 75 degrees, which is fine, I never hear it. Unless you're running a case full of noctua fans you wouldn't notice it.

It's worth bearing in mind that an 8800GT clocked at 660mhz core with a 1900mhz memory clock is going to basically perform the same as a stock 8800GTS (650mhz core and 1950mhz memory). They are essentially the same card wrapped in a different cooler/varying clocks. What you're paying for is the far superior cooler, which grants you either near silence or bigger manual overclocking headroom. The factory overclocked GTS cards are monsters.

I already said that. Though, less explicitly...
