I've been searching for a new laptop and i've just come across this site,

http://www.p4laptops.com.au/

After looking a many models of the ASUS G53SW, this model apparently can be customised with the i7-2820QM and GTX485M. Im not particularly sure if there will be heating issues cause after all they're a big step from the default i7-2630QM and GTX460M. So could anyone clarify for me if thats even theoretically possible cause even the ASUS official site doesn't say this laptop can be customised with this hardware.

Thanks for the help

Its not customised, its just a different model, look at the model number not the name as you have there.

I bought my G73SW from http://www.xoticpc.com

They can upgrade your laptop, ship it with UPS and you'll still get it cheaper than buying it from here.
Plus ASUS has a global warranty nowadays so the worry of anything going wrong is no longer there.

To answer your question, if you get a laptop upgraded by a vendor, they should cover warranty on it if it overheats and fries anything. If you get it done by people who know what they are doing, you should not have any problems at all.
