Are you asking what should you buy or are you asking what is the best? If you're wanting to know what you should buy then I feel like it comes down to the type of motherboard you have. If you have a board that works with SLI then get the Nvidia card and if you have an CrossFire board get the ATI card. As for individual performance I think the 9800GTX+ has a slight advantage over the 4850 because most games tend to favor Nvidia cards. Although with some games the 4850 will out preform the 9800GTX+.

Rant/Troll or whatever this is a typical flame starter, we are just to find out if we all can keep this civilized.

Benchmarks(well, "most of' em")tell("most of us")that the HD4850 wins by a small margin.

HD4850 and 9800gtx+ are very often in a draw situation but sometimes the gtx+ wins and sometimes the HD4850 wins but the HD4850 usually wins by a wider margin than the GTX+ does.

:P

These 2 cards are pretty evenly matched, both are faster in some games than the other BUT more often than not they are pretty much the same (margin of error differences), therefor it's a simple case of buy the cheapest one, if the 4850 is cheapest buy that and if it's the 9800gtx+ then buy that.

you could look you the benchies and see which games which card performs best for, then get the card that does the best in the games you play personally i would get the 9800GTX+ but im an nvidia guy:D one other thing that most ppl forget, ati doesnt have physics support for their cards, nvidia does so if you have a powerful cpu=ATI not so powerful cpu=Nvidia
