[QUOTE="ferret-gamer"]My vote goes to the 4850Sordidus
He asked what's faster and the 9800GTX+ is generally faster...
in your opinion...........It's not a matter of opinion lol it's a fact 9800GTX+ > HD4850 > 9800GTXSordidusdepends on what game or program you are using
ATi Fanboys piss me off.RFOMownagethis coming from a nvidia fan boy. And by the way i an not a ati fanboy, the only reason i have a 3870 is because it was cheap and i couldn before a 8800gt, but my mobo is nvidia and almost all of my other cards are nvidia
[QUOTE="PNarSerja"]OC HD4850 > 9800GTX+ > Stock 4850 > 9800GTX
Since the 9800GTX+ is just a Shrink/OC version of 9800GTX i decided to put the OC version of the 4850
Nvidia Fanboys piss me off.

I like how you dont actually give a reason,,,fanboy much?
Well they are very similar, i would get a 9800GTX+ because i use folding@home!Daytona_178right, he you are going to do folding@home get thd nvidia card
Well it's a war ain't it?
Benchmarks say 9800GTX+ and HD4850 is a near draw, the 9800GTX+ wins a few more but HD4850 takes a larger lead in some of the games where it wins.
So thoose two card often goes head's up.
I say 9800gtx+ ~ HD4850
But the price is often calculated in to the judje witch card give you better price per $?
This is where the HD4850 wins.
You can find a HD4850 with a non-refference cooler very cheap so dont come with this "they run hot" argument.
the 9800GTX+ will kick the HD4850 a$$ any time in any kind of environment I dont know about you guys but im not a fan of display errors and driver fustrations.....9800GTX+ >HD4850gamerloks
well did Ati ate your cornflakes this morning and you grew this hate?...
9800GTX+ kicks nothing, and that card has the same trubble as any other VGA card out.
There both around the same performance wise so I would get the hd4850 which can be found for $139 with a free game if you live in the US which is at least $50-$70 cheaper than the 9800gtx+
EDIT- Or you can ditch the free game and ge the version for the same price that has an aftermarket cooler
I just bought a 9800GTX+ for my computer, it's brilliant, I looked into both cards though and as far as I could see there was little to no difference other than the Nvidia card used less power and stayed cooler both when idle and working, ofcourse like all cards though they vary in different game types, in the games I play the 9800GTX+ was very slightly better (Supreme Commander and Total War games). The reason I bought the 9800GTX+ though was simply because I found it £20 cheaper than I could find the 4850 after all though :D.
depends what youre doing. at stock (http://xtreview.com/addcomment-id-5631-view-9800GTX+-vs-HD-4850.html) the 9800gtx+ beats the 4850, but the 4850 has much more overclocking headroom. As well, it's not really fair to compare them, because the 4850 is usually 10-15$ cheaper.
Yes, it is fair. I am not a fanboy of either, since I really dont have any of their cards, but since the 4850 is cheaper, it'll have abetter price:performance ratio.
But all in all, I think the 9800 GTX+ is better. ALTHOUGH (I know I keep contridicting myself), the 9800 GTX+ can be more of a hassle, its a bigger card, needs 2 PCI-E connectors, and doesnt have non-reference cooler models.
So I dunno, I think it might be a tie, although for price:performance get 4850. If you're looking for raw performance then get the 9800 GTX+
[QUOTE="RFOMownage"]ATi Fanboys piss me off.HelbrecSame here, i regret buying my 4850 since the day i pluged it in. Cant wait to get money for a NVIDIA CARD!! Say goodbye to high tempatures and horrible performance!just curious do you have the original 4850 cooler or did you get one with aftermarket . I got mine with aftermarket and runs everything i throw at it with cool temperatures. i also got mine before there was even a 9800gtx+ but im still happy with it.
