If money and power requirements aren't an issue, the 4870 is the better card.

The 4850 is probably the better bang for your buck considering you can get one for $180 or even less. Apart from Crysis, I can't think of a game that the 4850 can't max out. However, if you want to play Crysis on Very high settings and want a card that will last a little bit longer and money isn't an issue then get a 4870.karasill

How much power (wattage) your power supply can pump out. You'll want at least a 400 watt power supply for the 4850, and at least a 450 watt for the 4870.[QUOTE="karasill"] The 4850 is probably the better bang for your buck considering you can get one for $180 or even less. Then I think you should get a 4870. It is a better card then the 4850 (about 40% faster) and only gets beat by the more expensive Geforce 280 GTX and 4870x2.[QUOTE="PSfanboy101"][QUOTE="JP_Russell"]If money and power requirements aren't an issue, the 4870 is the better card.

is resolution a problem??

HD4870x2 > GTX280
Though a 650W is probably cutting it too close with a 4870X2.

Yeah, a 750 watt would be more ideal. A 4870x2 eats almost 350-400 watts under full load? Right?the 4870 x2 will eat well over 360watts on load yes. the 4870 is close to that aswell, the 4870 an amazing card though, plus it will run insane resolutions at speed unlike the 4850. if money is no issue, why would yu get the cheaper card?????? thats like having enough money to buy a Porsche 911, but settling for a Boxster for no reason..... get the best you can afford, if you can the 4870X2 is smashing benchmarks like no ones buisness, but it'l cost you $600.Predator123
if i get a 4870 and i have 650w is that a bad thing?

Shouldn't be. What brand is your PSU, and how much did you pay for it? Cheap, high-wattage power supplies exaggerate their realistic power output. Also, do you have two 6-pin power connectors?
