Hey guys quick question. After seeing all the rave reviews the 4870 has got all over the net I got a question. Can you run Ati setups on nvidia MOBO? I have the 680i SLI MOBO. Is crossfire possible with an nvidia MOBO? Or does the MOBO not matter at all. I was not to sure on the answer figured I would ask you guys.

Eh that's crappy I hope Nvidia will learn that trying to constantly sell $600 is old news when ATI can sell a card almost the same performance wise for $300 less. To bad on not being able to run crossfire. Hope Nvidia can respond to this with a decent card with the same performance.

500$ video card. now. the 280 GTX on most of store of pc
i wonder why it sitll 650$ In Canada. it not logic
and i hope 4870x2 beat nvidia. i used to love nvidia but if nehalem is gonna destroy nvidia then it the will of the winner.
as sad it can be unless nvidia releash a 3x video card into one to defeat 4x crossfire = 4870x2 : on nehalem bloomfield and better O.o

I dont know, but personally to me I'm willing to spend money on a good PC gaming rig. But I see GPU prices keep going up and up $500 + dollars for single gpu is getting kind of out of control in my personal view. Than I see promise from a gpu maker like Ati who is catching on and seeing that a large majority of PC gamers do not have the funds to upgrade $500 gpus every single year and or if you were the unlucky ones who bought the 9800 gx2 the gtx 280 came out almost a month later. Now I know why all my friends lost interest in PC gaming and went to your run of the mill PS3 and 360. A one time buy and graphics that looks almost perfectly similar to PC versions of the games (unless you running the game on a high end resloution). I really think Nvidia will catch on this time and see that making high end top of the line gpus more affordable will allow average PC gamers to buy them and make Nvidia a lot more money.

http://game.amd.com/us-en/crossfirex_components.aspx?p=2

They have certified components for running crossfire. These are all the components they have tested if its not on the list then they either have not tested the config or it did not pass their tests.

It would be nice if you could run any setup on any MOBO
