So i just got a new custom built pc today with a Amaze ATI Raedon HD 5770. And when i first turned it on with Windows XP it ran fine, all the drivers were installed and everything worked. I then installed Windows 7 and went about installing all the drivers including the GPU drivers. However once i restarted the computer i then found out for some reason that Windows could not load the graphics driver (A code 31). A google search turned up nothing so now i am stuck with a brand new pc that doesnt work properly. Anyone got any suggestions for a remedy to this problem?

Oh and my specs are

  • i5 750 2.66 GHz
  • Amaze 5770 1GB
  • Asus P7H55-M Pro Motherboard
  • 2x2 GB Kingston 1333MHz DDR3

Im a first time ATI user and this has left a bitter taste in my mouth

Did you download the specific driver for vista/windows7 and not the XP drivers? Also are you manually installing them or doing it through the device manager?

Uninstall them, use DriverCleaner to get rid of any left over files from both the ATI and nVidia drivers you once had installed, redownload the drivers, and then reinstall them. You shouldn't have any issues.

Also, Win7 is great.

Naturally i downloaded Win 7 Drivers. I was manually installing them from the ATI exe

Tried that and it didnt work. Wasnt really expecting it to since ive been constantly reinstalling Win 7 and formating the hard drive. Tried both 32 and 64-Bit
