I'm thinking of ordering an ATi Radeon HD 2600 XT but i am unsure of how good it is because there is no mention of pipelines and things, so, i am not sure what to expect in games, can anyone give me a rough idea of just how good it is?

Also it would be ok with my current parts wouldnt it?

they are :-

Mobo - MSI MS-7236

CPU - Intel Core2duo E6300

1Gb ddr2 ram at 667mhz i think it is..

PSU - 400W

Thanks

Some benchies of all the best cards as of this month. I am quite surprised by how well this card fares.

I would suggest you google harder, there have got to be tons of articles out there that mention the card architecture.

The 2600XT may be beat in DX9, but it just plain pwns the 8600GT/S in DX10.

Specs:

  • intel Core 2 Duo E6600 Conroe @ 3.0GHz (333 * 9) processor
  • Asus P5B Deluxe / Wifi-Ap motherboard
  • Corsair XMS2-5400UL DDR2 memory (2 * 1024MB @ 833MHz 5-5-5-15/2T)
  • Noctua NH-U 12 CPU cooler.
  • Corsair HX 620W modular power supply
  • Seagate Barracuda 7200.9 SATA hard drive

I know it does, it's not optimized at all.

I'll be convince when a real dx10 game will be out.

Problem is apart from Cyrsis we might not see another game at this rate until the next set of DX10 GPU's are out.

How the hell did you get 6 gigs of RAM?!?!

And not all rebates don't work, but even without rebate its the best grafx card for the price.

The 8600GTS outperforms the 2600 XT in games (by about 5-10 frames), however the 2600 XT does have better image quality and a better video decoder.

But for the price, I would just buy a full DX9 card such as the X1950 PRO.

BTW: To run any sort of decent, modern video card, you'll need a PCI Express port on your motherboard.

As Bebi mentioned, there are no "real" DX10 games that are currently out, just patches and unoptimized demos.

also nice thing about the 2600XT HD is that need less power than the 8600 and it runs cooler. so I been able to run it on a 300 W PSU and be able to overclock it

LMAO. You cant max out CoH DX10 demo whit 2600XT. At least not in decent resolution, and whit all eye candy. But that is considered to be max settings. He is either lying, or you are lying that you have a friend whit 2600XT.

That's a good question. Technically, it's a DX10 game, because the feature was there from the start, but I'm inclined to believe that DX10 effects were just a tacked on feature in the game. I think Crysis will be the best benchmark for DX10.

Yep!

IMO Crysis will be the first "real" DX10 game. Bioshock looks almost identical wether you play on DX9 or DX10.
