Oh yes, there'll be a huge bottleneck.
Overclocking would alleviate it slightly, but Pentium 4's aren't very good overclockers.
You should get a new CPU really. The Pentium 4 just can't cut it anymore.
The bottleneck will only be seen when you play a game that would like something better in a cpu. But if your playing a game that doesnot need more then a P4 to run good you wont see any bottlenecking. A P4 is more then enough to run the video card. but it depends on what game you will see the performance loss.04dcarraher
not true,my p4 bottlenecked my 3850 horribly,as soon as i got an e2200,games started to run 2x even 3x faster
really the bare min. i would touch games with anymore is a superclocked celeron dual core, OC pentium dual core, or stock e5400 from the intel side of things
So can i play GTA 4 and Crysis on medium setting at low resolution with the ati radeon hd 4770 on P4 3Ghz?Karthik1994
nope you need a real dual core for that (like core 2 duo, anthalon 64 x2/II 64 x2, phenom x2/II x2) a pentium 4 or D or celeron dual core or pentium Dual core jsut wont cut it really. well your welcome to try it on a epntium dual core.. but i pitty the fool who does that.

Absolutely no chance.
I got a worse GPU on a more powerful CPU that is bottlenecked nicely... so yes, yes it will bottleneck.

my e2200@3ghz runs gta iv decently..so should i upgrade my 8500 GT to the ATi Radeon HD 4770 or by a new CPU?Also, how much improvement will i find if i upgrade to the ati radeon HD 4770? because currently with the 8500 gt i can play GTA 4 at 800x600 at the lowest settings at 10fps which is horrible!!! please give me some suggestions! i'm really confused!!!
i dont know about the 4770,but i can feel that you are on a really right budget since you have a P4 and a 8500GT.go for a core2Due,i think any Dual core will be great in comparison with your P4,and with overclock you can get superb results.my E2180 is considered to be in the low end of the core2due series and its easily overclocked from 2 GHz to 3 Ghz without any extra cooling.since you are already using Nvidia, the 9800 is really cheap right now,but the 200 series is better, see if you can afford one.but really the 9800 is great for its price.GazaAli
4770 has sketch benchmarks.. at times it outpreforms the 9800gtx+ other times it barely meets the 9800gt..

im really not into ATI and i dont know anything about their cards,so what about the prices for both the 9800GTX and the 4770? of course if they are the same or near, then he should go for the 4770.otherwise,the guy sounds really poor like me,so any 9800 will do it.Please Log In to post.
