I currently have an X800 Pro and play games such as BF2142 which runs a little stuggish ... Reading an interview with one of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R developers he said that you want at least a 6800 to get the visuals. So could someone please advise me how much of an upgrade / benefit i will get from this upgrade? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you :)

IT would be quite an improvement but I would reccoemnd something better, the improvement wont be too huge. I would aim for the 7900gs.

The 7600GT is better than x800Pro by quite a bit, but not too much. BF2142 isn't a graphics card hogging game, more of a RAM hogged game.

LOL!!!  I love all of these posts!  quote "It's quite an improvement...but just a little one."  LOL

Which one is it!!!  It think what they are trying to say is that while the 7600 is a large improvement over the X800 you will be better off getting the latest 7000 series card from NVIDA.  What are your computer specs?

7600GT, but seeing as prices are dropping because of dx10 cards, you should aim higher, like a 7800/7900.

I have an Athlon 64 3500+, 1024MB DDR (200mhz, DDR400), and an X800 Pro. What I have decided to do is to buy a cheap motherboard for about AU$50 with GB LAN and sound ... PCI-E ... then buy one of the XFX 8800GTS 320MB cards. I can get them for about AU$480. At least that way I can enjoy stalker, bf2142, HL2 EP2, and most other games we play these days. Better idea ? :)

Yes, buy a decent motherboard. and not the cheapest one. It´s not necessary to buy a monster SLI mobo, but get something stable with nforce chipset at least.
