I've heard about Av conflicts and what not, so I'm wondering what I should do with my ssytem. I'm running Norton Internet Security, MSE, Avira, Spybot and Adaware. Should I tun off one or two of these to make sure I don't get infected because of my own ignorance?

Yeah it's not a good idea to have multiple AV programs running at the same time. They can get into eachothers way and render them pretty useless as well as causing system instability. I'd stick with MSE, that's actually a pretty nice piece of software.

I'm surprised your PC is still running. Uninstall everything with removal tools, then get MSE or AVG and malwarebytes as a backup on demand second opinion scanner,

I have multiple programs, but only Kaspersky runs at all times, and I have them scan at different times. That is fine, but having multiple programs always running is bad.

MSE is all you need really. But MSE + Malware bytes on the side is a good combo.

Zone Alarm Freem Avast Free, Spybot and Malware Bytes are the best combination you can have. They're all free and don't conflict with each other. I'm not sure about MSE as they're not a dedicated AV company. Yes they may have made a good start with detection rates etc but will they keep it up. We all know how poor win defender and win firewall are.

Windows firewall did it's job well. It's a basic firewall that served the home user well enough without getting in the way all the time. It all depended on how you configured it.

So does MSE actually have a firewall or do I have to rely on the hit-or-miss Windows firewall? I liked Avira, it seemed to of blocked a lot of things whereas Norton and adaware did nothing....I'm afraid MSE will follow suit.

Avast + Threatfire + Spybot is my personal choice for passive protection. For on demand scans i install a couple random ones from my stash usually malware bytes and MSE.

Your antivirus is not supposed to block a lot of things which usually means you are heavily infected. Stick with one main app and one on demand scanner.
