I do have vista, where do I find this? So all I have to do is burn a dvd with an avi file on it and it will work? What type of dvd do I need to burn is it a data dvd? or a different kind?

In Vista it is Start(Windows Logo)>All Programs>Windows DVD maker, You can't just burn the AVI to the disc as data. Windows DVD maker will convert the AVI into a format playable in DVD players and burn it.

You can try converting it to MPEG. I know a lot of newer DVD players can read that.

DVD Video is in mpeg2 format but you need DVD authoring tools to get the disc properly formatted so it can be used by a standard dvd player.

Modern DVD players can typically read divx videos also.
