Well my 64 bit Vista was acting half retarted so I dumped it for my good old friend XP. Man I love how much more friendly it is with everything. Anyone else hate Vista and go back to the most solid OS ever?

Well i wouldn't call it the best OS ever...maybe the most acceptable OS microsoft has put out. Don't get me wrong...I still use XP for gaming, but any Linux distrobution is far superior to any Windows or Mac OS. The minute linux gets more support from developers, I'm going to dedicate my whole hard drive to Linux rather than just half.

After Nvidia got it's act together, drivers, and SP1 you would have to pry Vista64 from my cold dead hands. I love it and couldn't even imagine going back to XP. But YMMV. ;)

Eh xp is outdated in my mind, I prefer Vista 64 any day over it. About Linux, it won't get much developer support for a while I think, why? Well it's harder to use for noobs, it is harder to use than any Windows operating system. Most people don't spend the time about thinking on how to do something, Windows would do automatically for you. But yeah I use Jaunty on my laptop, runs great.

That made me laugh. XP was one of the worst OS's. That is why XP has been out so long, it took MS years to fix it. From my experiences, Vista is way better than XP, and 7 will (hopefully) improve on it even more.

well, i love vista and prefer not to go back to xp. i have to agree, vista does act like it's half retarded at times. but overall, i think the good outweighs the bad.

The only reason vista is considered better is because microsoft has not released dx10 for xp.

I take it you have never used Vista? Or at the very least you are so new to PC's that you don't remember just how bad XP was. It has nothing to do with DX10, it is still basically a joke anyways. It is because Vista is better than XP. I am still running XP, and wish I had Vista. If you had a better GPU and more RAM, you would feel the same too, if you would try Vista.

Well I'll see, in a few days my parts will be here and I will have a better computer.

I don't see how XP is bad, to be honest.

Until SP1 XP crashed constantly and it wasn't driver issues it was the OS itself. It's still a security nightmare and it's memory management is almost as bad as ME. XP still crashes at times. Overall, even though I was used to XP, I was glad that Vista came out and is generally a more stable secure OS.

I have not had a crash with Vista since SP1, that I didn't cause while trying to find a stable overclock. Even before SP1 the only Vista crashes I had were Driver related, thanks Nvidia.

I really liked XP Pro once it got to SP2 and beyond. However.. my system is setup to dual-boot both XP Pro and Vista-64 SP1, and I NEVER use XP anymore. I set it up for Dual-boot because of my fear of changing, but so far Vista-64 is great. I haven't found a game yet that I could run on XP and not just as well on Vista.

The only time I boot into XP anymore is to run folding at home on my 2 gtx 260's, becuase in vista you have to use a dummy plug on the 2nd GPU while in XP you don't have to bother with that. For gaming or just about anything else I boot into vista.
