I will be making a post, and in the middle of typing, I will hit the backspace key but instead of deleting what I typed, it will make my browser go backwards a few pages.

It just started happening for no apparent reason a few days ago. Why would this be happening and how can I fix it?

Is it on gamespot? Because I've just come back onto this forum after a year of absense and quite a lot, when I'm typing, it's like the cursor just jumps out of the text box and I have to click back in to continue what I'm typing. It's very annoying and I think it's just this forum..

That is normal procedure for a browser to go back with the backspace key, it probably just means that the text entry field lost focus somehow.

Is everyone that is having this problem (me included) running FireFox? Im also using Win7 64bit. So if others are using like XP 32bit and IE then it would have to be a GS only problem.

backspace is a shortcut key for back. if you are not in a text field backspace will aways take you back to the previous page.

I was also having this issue. I just disabled the backspace working as a back button, so at least it won't go back a page on me.

To disable browser backspace in firefox open firefox and type about:config in the address bar, hit enter. Go down to where it says "browser.backspace_action", and change the value to 3, then backspace will not cause the browser to go back a page.
