Yes, indeed I am asking for game reccomendations. I know there has been a thread on this, but I like to think mine is a bit more unique and specific, in the sense that it wouldnt really be covered in the other thread. Anyway here goes:

Im able to run Crysis on high, so I dont really have any hard-ware limitations, so feel free to reccomend system-demanding games. I dont like sims (racing or other), puzzle games (portal may be an exception, as its a bit of a shooter), or sports games. Every other genre is fine by me, although I tend to lean on FPS games, as there seems to be more of them. Also it has to have a solid multiplayer component (NOT 'The Darkness' multiplayer). Also, call me picky (cause I am), but the game also has to have good graphics (good technically, not artistically, although artistically is nice). Also ample mod support along with a single player campaign (good or bad) is greatly appreciated, but not required.

Lets Recap:

Not a simulation game, puzzle game, or sports game

Solid multiplayer component (In fact, It doesnt even need single player, but its nice)

Great graphics

Fun, obviously

If you still dont know what Im looking for, then here are some games that might fit the criteria (this is basically an educated guess, I havent played these games): Gears of War PC, World in Conflict, Crysis, Orange Box. Mainly I just want you to come up with some great games, but if you want to go the extra mile... explain why the games I listed would be good/bad (For example, Gears seems to be amazing, yet you PC gamers give it fairly little praise, why?) Also, if you want to know how seriously I take each of my game requirements and how picky I am, consider this; between all the console systems their are 2 games I actually enjoy (Halo 3, Call of Duty 4). Anyways, Thanks in advance.

If you like insipid game like Halo 3, gear of wars would be a good recommendation :P. All you do in this game is to enter a room hide behind an object and kill. rince and repeat with bigger monster and you got Geow in a nutshell. You can add a stupid multiplayer component.

But since you are on a pc forum, I would recommend you deeper game like Stalker ( a shooter that add some great rpg element in an open world), Crysis ( the best fps ever and since you can run it, why not play it!!), the Orange box (5 game for the price of one, including the best multiplayer game of the year TF2)and maybe Bioshock (no mp though).

Try out Battlefield 2. It will provide you with hundreds of hours of multiplayer playtime, has good looking visuals/graphics for being a medium aged game, has a huge player base, and (IMO) the weapon unlocks in BF2 > CoD4 - keeps you wanting to rank up.

Counterstrike 1.6 - Top of the line FPS experience. The graphics are extremely dated but for some reason I find them very clean.

Supreme Commander - Epic multiplayer battles which require tactis and strategy.

Team Fortress 2 - The most balanced class based shooter (9 classes). The art style is amazing as well.

Unreal Tournament III - Big meatheads blasting at each other with weapons we saw introduced some 8 years ago, yet it is still fun.

Enemey Territory: Quake Wars - A Battlefield (PC) type class-based FPS but with a much faster pace. The visuals aren't the greatest but the quick twitch gameplay, balanced mechanics, and centralized point of action make it a decent experience.

Call of Duty 4(PC) - You like it console, but now you have PC controls. Not to mention patches role out more frequently on PC, and you actually can lean!!!

Really Stalker has good mulitplayer? Well if it does, its must buy, all the criticism GT gave it seemed like good things (Frustratingly *good* AI...? Wtf? GT) Anyway, I mainly thought if it as a single player game. Sorry to bash such an amazing game, but Im really picky, Crysis and Orange Box seem like good options though. Can anyone clear up my STALKER concerns/ recommend other games? Thanks.

Please, avoid at all cost Gametrailer pc review, they are so newb that they never managed to get Crysis to work on their comp.

Stalker has an horrible multiplayer, but there is around 1000 persons playing it at any time, so I guess some peoples actually like it. The sp will keep you on your chair for 15-20 hours, the first time and you will want to replay it.

Given my criteria would you reccomend Battlefield 2, 2142, or quake wars over the other? Im really interested in the extreme large scale of battlefield games, but I only want one. On the other hand Quake Wars is more recent, so it may have better graphics/interfaces, etc. Again though I only want one of these games. Which one would you suggest? Or should I avoid them altogether? Btw, Im only going to get maybe 5 games max, so dont recomend 10 games or anything... And there's no way Im getting Counter-Strike I take my criteria too seriously, no offense to those who enjoy it, but Id rather put my new rig to use. Thanks.

You haven't played Orange Box? You definitely need to get it. It's the best gaming deal of the decade. World in Conflict is a great RTS, I'd also recommend to get Supreme Commander.

I was going to say cod 4 but you played that.

stalker mp is fun, but its not that popular

What about Supreme Commander, long battles

UT3 is an option, again not a great deal play it but enough to get a game usually, its more twitch based stuff but solid it is.

Lol, feel free to reccomend COD4, I think the PC version has enough differences to make it worth buying again (Mods, more players, smoother controls, better graphics, etc.) and the fact I liked it makes me even more willing to play it again. Seeing as you were going to say COD4 though, Ill take that as a reccomendation.

As for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. I may just wait for Clear Sky to play multiplayer, seeing as it might have vehicles (they rumored it in an interview) Which would just be peachy...

As for Supreme Commander- Maybe, Ill look into that

Now Ut3... My problem with it is (according to 1up) very few people play it, to the extent its occasionally hard to find a good server. I think it looks fantastic, but seeing as few people play it, perhaps it has some deep flaws, that Im unaware of. Im not rejecting it Im just assuming its flawed. Now correct me if Im wrong Im no expert here, Im seriously curious how its doing now (the server complaints were from about a month or two ago)

I don't think ut3 is flawed, I think it came out at a bad time, it came out after cod 4, crysis, orange box, bioshock, gears of war. Just to name a few big shooters, thats got to effect sales. Other reasons could be less game modes, consoled menu system and the fact that epic wasted time on a campaign. But yeah player numbers are not good so I can't recommend it, stalker has even less players though. Crysis has more players than both combined, and it never really was meant to be a mp game.

Yeah, UT 3 came out at a bad time however, the playerbase is steadily growing. As far as BF2 vs 2142 vs ET:QW goes, I have only played the demos of 2142 and QW so I can't say much about them. I recommend BF2 because I've played it extensively for a while now, and I still enjoy it - which IMO makes a good game.
