I have the Steam version, and it would be the first time I was going to play it with my new rig.

The hardware has changed (not the hard disk though), so I had to reenter the serial. Windows Live asked for it too, everything ok.

The saved game is still there, in C:\Users\XXXX\Documents\Square Enix\Batman Arkham Asylum GOTY\SaveData.

But the game doesn't read it, so I would have to start over! No way in the nine hells I'm going to do that, out of the question, I wouldn't have the patience nor the time!

I had just entered the Arkham Mansion, the last time I played.

.

One crucial question:

How can I force the game to "see" the save files and resume from where it left off?

This is so frustrating... :(

Thanks in advance.

I had that problem when I re-installed Windows because I didn't back up my Windows Live offline profile data. Without the profile data, my game save was useless. So I started over..

If you have the saves from Documents/Eidos/Batman:AA you have to create a new profile and then see its folder appear in the saves folder then copy your saves over.

If I remember correctly you have to rename the folder where your save is so that it matches (serial number?) of the save file. I remember having to do something similar with my SFIV save. But I forgot how to do it exactly ask Mr.Google.

Oh, I had already done that, to no avail.

I read a bazillion URLs about the exact same issue, and NOT ONE solved.

Even managed to download some game saves, only to get the same "corrupt save" message...

I can't believe that there's no workaround for something apparently so simple... :|

To reuse previous savegames you must have the "Documents\Eidos\Batman AA" savegame files AS WELL AS the Games for windows Live hidden folders located in "windows\users\(username)\AppData\Microsoft\" The retail version will have two hidden folders..."GFWL" & "XLive" The reloaded/kaos version will have only one "XLive" Simply replace these folders with the ones you have backed up and wish to reuse. Without the LIVE hidden folders your BAA savegames are useless. This explains why any downloaded savegames do not work.

Okay, I managed to make this work, so for posterity and the benefit of future generations, here is what I did: Copy the savegame folder to its place in your My Documents folder. Copy the XLive and GFWLive folders into your AppData folder. Start Arkham Asylum. Now the important part: LOG OUT OF GFW. Hit the home key to pull up the GFW menu and log out. Log back in. You'll see multiple profiles listed instead of just the one. Log into each profile and check your save game. One of the profiles (in my case it was the second) should show a proper save file instead of being missing or corrupted. Good luck!

Man, thanks so much for putting the solution here! Just what I needed right now, and I got it working your way after fiddling around for it for quite a while. The future generation's gratitude is yours.
