For those who don't know its Battle Field 2 and three expansion packs for 40 dollars US. Is it worth getting do enough people still play it and the expansion packs? I have battlefield 2142 which I enjoy and I downloaded the demo for BF2 which I thought was pretty good but I heard that there aren't really any servers for the expansion packs should I just get BF2 by itself for 20 dollars?

Just get BF2 and if you like 2142 you will have an orgasm playing BF2 cause it plays better FPS wise and imo is just overall 10000 times better.
I have both Bf2142 ad BF2 and let me tell ya, BF 2 has like twice as much servers going at any point in time then BF2142. And I agree that BF2 is still far better then 2142.
BF2 is much better than BF2142. 2142 is still fun to play but bf2 had more vehicles and the main thing that made it better is that the maps in it are WORLDS better than in 2142
BF2 is more realistic and such ballistics wise as well as having more vehicles and larger, more open maps.  When you're desperately trying to hold onto an outpost, with artillery hitting all around you as your buddies are dying is such a sick experience.
BF2142 is more fast paced due to the linear map design for conquest maps and it's more arcadey in general, as well as having quicker charactar progression. Escaping out of a Titan with your buddies, parachuting off the edge as it's exploding is such an adrenaline rush.

I actually thought of BF2's vehicles as less realistic than 2142's in that they're somewhat more durable than a real tank or aircraft is. :) still fun though. i've been thinking of grabbing the bf2 collection for my gf to play, as i can get it for pretty cheap. she plays bf2142 off and on, but she seems to prefer infantry combat, which 2142 seems to have gotten right compared to 2.
I have both an i think they are both really good but i LOVE!!!!! BF2 way better and my Bf2142 stopped letting me play online i was kinda angry :evil: but i still have Battle Field 2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BF2 and its expansion Special Forces are worth it (expansion mainly for the seven extra unlockable weapons, two unlocks per promotion instead of one). The booster packs are not. If you can find a bundle of just the former two, then get that instead.
And just to give an opinion to the contrary of many others here, while I like BF2 a lot, I feel 2142 is an improvement over it. I've seen several others on the forum before who agree with me, as well, so don't be certain that you'll feel the same as the people here saying BF2 is better.
