Two promising Sandbox games are coming out for the PC this winter, which are you looking forward to more?

I'm looking forward to Mercenaries 2 more, as Ubisoft doesn't have a very good track record making...anything so I'm doubting Far Cry 2 will be as good as it looks. But Mercenaries 2 looks like mercenaries 1 with all the problems sorted.

I think both will be great games, but I enjoyed FarCry more than Mercenaries. And I think that UbiSoft has a lot of great titles.

I never heard of mercenaries, and that is the only reason why I voted Far Cry 2.

The gameplay trailers of Far Cry 2 look good, although the tactical/stealth part appears to be lacking. I just hope Ubisoft won't screw over yet another once great PC franchise.

I'm excited for the explosive destruction promissed in mercenaries 2. Far Cry 2 looks good so far, but I don't think i'll end up buying it.

I command you to go play Mercenaries! It never came out on the PC I believe, but go buy a cheap PS2 or Xbox and play it.

Far Cry 2 has absolutely nothing to do with the original Far Cry.

Of course it does. It's from the same developer with a sequel title. The stories may not connect, but from the various screenshots and videos the influence of the first game is apparent.

Far Cry 2 for me.

Mercenaries 2 might be cool, I'll definitely be considering it. However, I've only watched one video, and in that one it was rather disappointing to see a number of context-sensitive action sequences (e.g. press B to pull guy out of chopper, press X to bash in head in -- all the while with a flashing button is indicating this for you) at specific moments.

Button-mashing "simon says" gameplay FTL, just my opinion. But...like I said, I only watched one video (misrepresentation perhaps?)....and it has COOP!!! :D So ultimately, how could I possibly resist?? ;) At the very least, looking into it on release, although I think L4D is going to rock it's casbah in COOP gameplay.

I agree, I disliked those too, but they are only there when you hijack a vehicle, which technically you should be able to go through the entire game without doing. I mean, it would be harder, but it could be done.

I'm excited about Mercs 2 and Farcry 2 and also hope GTA4 comes to PC. I don't see a need to choose between which to be more excited about.

I really didn't like mercenaries 1, felt like a GTA clone in a new setting.

Far Cry 2 looks to be challenging Crysis in the inventive kills department as well as graphics. Hopefully not a brain-dead shooter.

I'm personally looking forward to Far Cry 2 more. At this point, it's pretty much a definite buy. As for Mercs 2, I'm still deciding on this one. It looks fun, but will it get repetitive? I may wait for reviews.

kieranb2000

Actually he's not way off. Crytek developed Far Cry and Ubisoft published it. They worked very closely in the production of the game. Ubisoft has just taken over for Far Cry 2, and I'm sure they won't stray far from the original formula based on what the interviews have shown and seeing how much of a success Far Cry was.

I'm looking forward to Mercenaries 2 more, as Ubisoft doesn't have a very good track record making...anything

kieranb2000

Are you serious? Ubisoft has a huge game archive with many highly-acclaimed games. I'm assuming you were trying to troll with that statement which is why I'm not going to argue further, but that was ridiculous claim.

What about....

Assassin's Creed
Rainbow Six Vegas
Rainbow Six Vegas 2
Splinter Cell: Double Agent

Those are just a few of the games they've made in the past few years, all of which got great reviews and were very fun (I haven't played Vegas 2 yet).

Vegas 2 is in fact just Vegas.

And personally I hate Splinter Cell, but I'll give you that one since some people like it :P

No, but there are far more fans of those games than haters, and they all got excellent reviews by many different gaming websites and individuals, so if there is such thing as objectivity in regards to whether a game is good or not, these games are closer to the good side than bad.

Most interested in FC 2, I just hope that ubi doesn't f$#% it all up, and by that i mean i want it to run great from day 1 w/o having to patch it up several times.

I think mercs will have more to offer though, vehicles, missions, coop, support calling in diff. airstrikes and tac. support.

I'm gonna get both, fc 2 will be an awesome fps, and mercs will be an awesome 3rdps.
