What a bummer, played the game since launch day and came to the conclusion it is already boring. Battle packs are only eye candy, I personal don't care about skins. Once lever 3 is reached you just choose the best gun and that's IT. From there on you just run around capping flags for war bonds so you can unlocking an other shitty gun.

The game is not motivating you to keep playing a class so that you have new weapons for that class or to unlock or weapons customization options to unlock. It is the same with vehicles and planes. I already bug out of it because of the repetition. There is nothing to look forward to or to work to. Battlefield 1 is just a slightly improved Star wars Battlefront.

well, it might be repetitive, but i don't see how unlocking weapons in a sequence would make any difference. looking forward to new unlocks doesn't make it less repetitive, after all. or do you want a reward for a grind?

personally, i was tired of unlocks of the previous battlefields, and i think this one still has too many. there are unlocks for vehicles but fortunately, you aren't completely stuck to one role without them.

personally, i don't care for the skins but if CS:GO has taught us anything, it's that skins > unlocks.

my own motivation for playing the game is for the inherent entertainment. also, mastering the aircraft and tanks isn't quick.

I don't get it why, having to unlock imaginary stuff is motivating to keep playing, I thought that we play games because they are fun, not to unlock stuff.

@timpie12345: @MK-Professor: these days people care to progress something and advance rather than having fun, once they've unlocked everything they'll quit the game in no time.

But hey, you can buy the new Titanfall 2, unlocking stuff there is fun from reviews :)

Well yeah, there's no ranked system. It's a pretty casual game, but that's fine, it's what it was designed to be. Overwatch and CS:GO are your two main options for a fps if you like a competitive feel to your games(ranks). Titanfall 2 may have ranks added in later.

You should be playing the game for the competition and because the game is fun. I fuckin hate this new generation of gamers that are all about achievements, unlocks and progression. Are you so pathetic that you constantly need a pat on the back as you play? Do you really need somebody to assign unlock goals for motivation? GTFO

Well said. All I see now are kids talking about trying to get a specific medal? who cares? they also said stuff like 'that was a nightmare'. Then why do it? it's not like somebody is going to compliment you on your virtual medals. The game is so much fun. I love it and couldn't give a crap about unlocks or achievements. I've been using the rifle you get with medic since day 1 and that was hours and hours ago.

To each his own. I remember unlocking everything I wanted in BF4 pretty fast as well. If the only fun in these games is unlocking things, I'd say they're probably not for you. Better off playing WoW or something haha

Well I guess you'll just have to play it for fun. What a shame.

@JigglyWiggly_: I am motivated by revenge and punishment. The other team is very rude. They come in and capture our points which clearly have our flags waving. That shows a complete lack of respect and the punishment is death. You killed my squad mate... punishment is death to you and your whole squad. Show no mercy and share no flags! hehe :)

I'm old and I love unlocking and progression, most games are about achieving. A lot of games have multiple goals, the more goals the better and longer lasting. Why is accomplishments a bad thing? Why do you think games like Dark Souls are so incredibly popular? Because the feeling of overcoming great and difficult achievements is very satisfying.

Uh...I think you somehow flipped your own point on your its head.

Dark Souls' success is exactly due to what BassMan was saying : the game's satisfaction isn't rooted in superficial achievements or unlocks but actual challenge derived from the gameplay. Dark Souls isn't a game with superficial goals thats pats you on the back for pointlessly slaying 1000 easy mobs. That's what the TC is asking for: games where you're rewarded superficially for sinking your time in.

Meanwhile, everyone else is having fun with *real* accomplishments, like hitting new high scores and K/D milestones, or reaching higher ranks in competitive play for people concerned with that sort of thing. What the TC is asking for is basically an RPG, which undermines what non-RPG's are about.

An accomplishment is an accomplishment whether it's beating a hard boss or doing an achievement. Both require a lot of time and patience.

Although I don't agree with the TC saying the game is boring, I get where he is coming from.

BF1 is similar to Battlefront where there isn't much customization down the road. The unlocks are mostly cosmetic. You compare it to Titanfall 2 which has lots of gameplay customization unlocks and BF1 seems a bit barebones in that department.

To me it doesn't matter, both BF1 and Titanfall 2 are great fun in the gameplay department.

And just like beating a hard boss or doing a pre-written achievement, it requires a lot of time and patience to be the best in the server. Is that not also an accomplishment? AFAIK that's much more of an accomplishment. TC isn't complaining about a lack of challenge or anything like that. He wants something to grind away on. He wants WoW in the form of Battlefield. My point is that you can't have both a fun competitive shooting game but also a game with an uber long list of unlocks that you have to spend hundreds of hours just to have all the gear.

Honestly, it's not an achievement that anyone has less of a life than the next guy (by sinking time into a game). Just means they're a bigger loser tbh. If you have skill at least you have something to show for it.
