My battlefield 2 was working fine yesterday and I got a new monitor widescreen. And when I open up Battlefield 2 it just shows the load up screen and the screen flickers and goes back to desktop.

I had the same problem when i upgraded to a widescreen. You need to delete your bf2 profile folder which is in My documents\Battlefield 2,don't worry the game will create a new profile folder when you play the game again. Then load up bf2,you will need your log-in details to retrieve your account(s) from ea.You also may need to reset your video settings in the game.

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO, don't delete your profile, that's SILLY.

First of all, if it's a widescreen monitor (like 1280x720, 1680x1050, 1920x1200, 2560x1600, etc.) then. . .

make a shortcut on your desktop for BF2, then edit the properties so it reads like this,

"C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe" +menu 1 + fullscreen 1 +szx 1680 +szy 1050

If your screen resolution is 1680x1050, then use that, or whatever other reoslution it is. :)

Hi ipazhman. which reply are you refering to that worked? I'm having the exact same issue you are (though battlefield 2142 works just fine), and would like to know what worked for you. Thanks.

It doesn't matter. Deleting your profile is pointless.

What resolution monitor do you have Dreyson?

1680 x 1050. I tried the suggestion you had above and it still does the same thing. Makes no sense that 2142 would work but not battlefield 2 since they're practically the same game.

Battlefield 2 has a hard time recognizing any new hardware changes you make after the game installation.I,ve had ctd's 3 times when changing to newer hardware, and the easyiest way i found to get over the problem without uninstalling and reinstalling the game was to use the method i posted above.
