After buying and playing Battlefield 2142 for about 4 months, I got sort of sick of the game. So I bought Battlefield 2. Like BF2142, its a great game; but IMO, its less noob friendly.

My question is, why do the vast majority of online BF2 games have FF on? This is in contrast with BF2142 where most of the games have FF-off.

BTW in BF2142, I only play Titan mode. I never play Conquest mode in BF2142 so maybe FF is always on there as well.

I am sure you can find servers with FF off. According to Game-monitor there are over 1000 servers with it off.

when i'm in a tank and blowing people away, i don't want to have to be delicate and subtle. i don't tk on purpose, i never play ff on anyways so that's not even a possibilty.

Exactly, BF is a tactical shooter. You should be intelligent enough to recognise your own team if you're going to bother playing it... :|

Friendly fire being on ensures that things like grenades and C4 aren't exploited. People have to be more careful when grenade spamming, and they can't just drop C4 at their feet and blast enemy soldiers away without killing themselves or teammates. Oh yeah, don't forget that jets don't have to be careful with their bomb placement in strafing runs with friendly fire off.

My question is, why do the vast majority of online BF2 games have FF on? This is in contrast with BF2142 where most of the games have FF-off.

Yeah, and you know what you get? ****ing cheap C4 chuckers. It's ridiculous, so I never play on FF off servers in 2142.

Helps keep it competitive and more realistic. You don't see soldiers spraying at their targets using machine guns when they have friendlies right in the way in a real war. You don't see tanks firing rounds at areas filled with friendlies in a real war.
