So I installed the new 1.20 update to Battlefield 2142

(Dell XPS 2,16 dual centrio, 2gb, Nvidia 7900GO, sigmatel audio and what not)

System has 'Wondows XP Pro'..

-Also installed 'Northern Strike'

First thing I noticed was a very annoying 'hisssssss' from the speakers, whenever a map loads... -Even if I turn the speakers down.. (this used to be (on older pc's) a graphics problem, -Don't ask me why)..

I play a few of the new maps 'Northern strike' (with the annoying hissssssssss) (ARGH!).

Then a few days later I connect again, and the 'hisssssss' starts as I am booting the map I logged into, -And I play for about 5 seconds, -And I get a message :

PUNKBUSTER

-This 'scenario' has been repeated again and again.. -not even a reason why punkbuster disconnected me..

-Nothing more,- nothing less..

-this is a problem..

-afterwards I have updated 'punkbuster', -but still the same message after a few seconds..

-My connection is 4mbps -Nothing has changed except for the update/northern strike...

I even rolled back my graphics driver, just to see if that worked.. -need I say if it did ?? (no it didn't)

Well, guys, and girls - W.T.F. do I do?

I Really appreciate any input..

Thanks in advance

When I had errors in Vista I uninstalled everything and reinstalled bf2142, then the 1.2 patch. Played the game for a while then installed NS.

Do you have hardware sound acceleration on? Because I thought that that can cause problems with certain cards...

Nothing helped.. BUT I reinstalled everything, still same bug.. -then updated game to 1.20, THEN updated punkbuster.. -IT WORKED!! Afterwards I knew the punkbuster - bug was gone, -And installed Northern strike... suspence!!! -No sound issues, -and no punkbuster disconnections... -Well I'm not sure what was screwed up but there you go.. Hope this will help others out Thanks all of you for your input..
