It's every other year, rather than every year like CoD. So unlike Activision, EA isn't dumping Battlefield on a secondary team like what Activision did to Infinity Ward. DICE will still be in control of the Battlefield series.

Battlefield 3 is the 8th "main" iteration from the start of the franchise in 2004 (BF 1942, BF Vietnam, BF2, BF 2142, BF Modern Combat, BF Bad Company, BF Bad Company 2) so pretty much they sold 8 games in 8 years, is a 1 game x year in the franchise, and the news about arlterning MoH and BF doesn't surprise anymore.

But be honest: each new game did try to implement new concepts and enhance both the visuals and gameplay, whereas COD is in stale since COD 4 MW...

EA publishing...

EA pushes out new sports games ever year instead of updating them with a patch or some kind of DLC.

Sorry but EA had this model done before Activision.

It started in 2002 fyi. 9 years. But I do agree. At least you can tell Battlefield games apart from each other because they all try to do something different.

EA didn't specifically say Battlefield. They got Medal of Honor and that new sci-fi game from Respawn Entertainment as well. That said I will only buy something if I am genuinely interested in it, not because of the company/developer logo or the name on the box.

Indeed. BF 1942 came out in 2002, while COD 1 came out in 2003.

This announcement in fact suggests that there will be fewer BF games per two years than the historic average.

I hope this works in the advantage of both CoD and BF. With yearly games coming out they may actually step up their game and both improve from it.

Guys both EA and Activision couldn't care less about your little fanboyism. They are going to make money buy putting out cod and bf/mh yearly and you are going to give them your money and like it...

Who was comparing series? I merely stated that DICE's plan is to release a war game (either BF or MoH) every year to compete with CoD...

But DICE doesn't make Medal of Honor. The only reason they did the MP in the last one was because Danger Close was still getting organized during the development.

A BF game every two years. How is that copying CoD?....

BF and MoH are made by two different developers. Two years of development time for each game. While CoD is only a year. There's no copying.

I'll GLADLY welcome a BF game every two years.

I don't care, really. It is still better than Call Of Duty in my opinion and will definitely buy the third one. I don't hate Call Of Duty, but it looks too generic to me. I much prefer the arcade/sim feeling of the DiCE franchise, and their emphasis on teamwork.

MoH and BF are completely different series made by different developers. If anything this is good for fans of all series so they keep getting better and better to compete with one another.

Actually, CoD is developed in 2 years. See how WAW came out from treyarch and 2 years of develop ment and one year AFTER MW2, Black ops came out. So technically there is 2 years of dev time for each individual game.

I actually like this business model. It's not like we're getting a Battlefield every year, we're getting two completely different games on alternating years. CoD releases a new game every year...

Right. BUT, A CoD game comes out every year nevertheless. While with this BF and MoH which are diferent games will alternate. So this is still better.

Didnt we already came to a concensus that Activision is pure evil and EA is less so with some good faith towards pc.

which really doesnt help cod's case. two years of dev time and little to no advancement? excellent!

BF2143 within the next two years? Awesome! If they wanted to copy CoD, they'd just change the name, add a couple of killstreaks, and then release the same game on anually.

At least BF tries to push the envelope with gfx and gameplay. COD churns out the same dung each year on the same quake 3 engine.

Even if EA released a new Battlefield game EVERY year. And not every other year, I still prefer EA over Activision any day of the week. At least EA gives us some solid to great games. While Activision just pushes COD to make the company profit. I still find it odd why Blizzard merged with Activision when they certainly have different attitudes toward PC gaming. I'll never understand it. It's not like Blizzard needs Activision anyways.
