just get a key through gamespot, took me as long as it did to press the button to receive a key. the game is rather good for a free one, its fun and addictive, somewhat in the strain of TF2 but not as varied. you earn "victory points" from killing people and what have you, which you can spend on new weapons and armor and such, but these will only last a week or so. you can also buy points with real money, but that kind of defeats the purpose of it being free.
