Before you play your games?

I curious to know what you guys do for you settings before you start playing your game? Do you try for the lowest settings trying to get all that FPS, medium, or all out high?

I always tend to go medium regardless if I can set the settings on high. I also turn of bloom set my shadows to low and turn off the annoying motion blur. Everything else is set to medium.

Throw them all on high. If i can't play it on high something is wrong with the game.

Usually I put all the settings to max. If the game is unstable I then tweak it until I'm satisfy with the results.

Max it all out, and then dropping settings one by one if I need better frames, starting with AA.

Well I usually max everything out except AA and AF. If it still has a low framerate afterwards, I'll usually lower stuff like shadows and lighting (unless it's a game like STALKER.)

*Patch up the game to latest version

*Set resolution to my native 1680x1050 res

*Turn off bloom

*Turn off vsync

*turn all sound settings to max if the sound is through EAX or OpenAL (sometimes by going to a config file and setting max audio channels to 128 )

*If the game is older, I'll probably max everything out, turn on vsync, and force antisotropic filter and antialiasing, if they're not available through the game's options

In general, I do a lot of experimentation to get the visual quality vs. performance right. If I can't get it to where I want it to be, then I just don't play the game.

Depends on game setting.

In general start at high and get a look at things, adjusting towards more performance eventually. Definitely find the max graphic setting, for eventual group events that certain effects may need to be seen and acted upon.

In pvp, higher end performance.

Go with what the game recommends(unless it recommends V-Sync) after putting it at 1440x900 and then adjusting as I see fit.

All out high. All the time.

Only one game frustrates me, Crysis.

All max with plenty of AA.I refuse to play the game if i can't max it out.

I put everything on max and then start tweaking until I get visuals and performance balanced.

I turn my computer on.
