I know theres plent of helpful and nice people on gamespot so i thought id try and get my problem sorted through the forums before i request professional help. Il be honest i dont know much about PCs but heres my problem. -I start up my pc and it goes to a page saying windows did not start successfully. then it goes on to 'start windows normally'. -It tries to do this but then a page comes up after a while of blank screen saying 'a problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer' . It says the video driver failed to initialize and dumps the physical memory and restarts all over again. I have not to my knowledge made any installations or hardware updates and it was working fine a few days ago. Any help would be sweet. Dell Pentium 4 processor using 37" TV with VGA Cable

Have you tried starting in safe mode? (If it starts in safe mode then a driver you are loading is causing your computer to crash).

If it doesn't start in safe mode and the BIOS is working properlly then you'll have to repair your installation.

I think F8 is for starting in safe mode. If you have a USB keyboard, it might not work (I think I had that issue once, but it seemed to resolve itself).
