Most brands are good like evga, xfx, bfg, MSI and leadtek are a few, it really comes down to personal preference. The only main thing that sets a 9600gt apart from others is how much it is factory overclocked. For example the XFX 9600gt XXX edition, you'll pay more since it's factory overclocked. You could always buy a standard clocked card and overclock it youself, it'll perform pretty much the same.

On newegg there is a good elitegroup one with an acelero S2 fanless cooler (not S1 sorry). Moreover it's quite a steal, $125.

However, if you want one with a good warranty for overclocking and quality, go for XFX or EVGA though they go a little higher in price. They will replace your card if you burn it out, and its a lifetime warranty. Their coolers suck, so you might want to install your own after market cooler.

The Bfg ones come factory overclocked, and they have a lifetime warranty. But I would suggest getting an 8800gt oc, its not much more, but it offers over 20% more performance.

The superclocked is likely running a larger oc. You wont see more than 3fps difference though than the lesser clocked ones.

I know but does it matter that my empty 4 pin pairs have a 4 pin taken by lets say dvd drive and another by the hard drive, and can I use the other empty pair for the card without issues?

If you have a 4 pin that isn't being usied then it should work and all you would need to do is just puch the pins in there a lettle bit hard like I had to do with mine.

Well I actually had to call the tech service and the guy told me what to do and I did it and now it is up and running and I just love it.

Im not sure if I said this in the past but I have a 8800gt superclocked 512mb and it has the same kind of plugs as those doe the 6 pin and it did come with the 6 pin with the gpu and I plug the 6 pin to the gpu and the the 4 pin to the sapare 4 pin that I had in my pc or the psu and then installed it into the pc. Abit of a spueeze though but that is me not every body.
