I'm looking into buying some RAM for my new laptop but don't know what sites are safe to buy ram.

I need to upgrade from 2 gb (2-1GB) to 4 (2-2GB)

Any recommendations?

I am looking for a good warranty for the ram too.

Tigerdirect.com and Newegg.com are both very good in my opinion; Tigerdirect has shipped faster than Newegg on all of my occasions.

crucial ballistix is some of the highest quality ram out there. my ram came stock with timings of 4-4-4-12. those are timings most people have to really work hard to overclock to, and most ram wont go that low.

In the UK I'd reccomend SCAN. Never heard of CCL and they are way overpriced vs SCAN and even more-so that OCUK.

Ive been using CCL for years, first class service all the way hence there pc pro awards year after year after year, in fact its 1 of the biggest pc retailers in the uk so not sure how you dont know about them and there customer service is 2nd to none, and you say there prices are too high, when ive looked at scan there overpriced sometimes, if you want cheap prices you gotta shop around through all sites, Eclipse computers is probably the cheapest but there customer service is total rubbish.

In fact ive just been looking on scan for prices of the upgrades I want and there overpriced, it all depends what products your after at the time. OCUK I presume you mean Overclockers, now there prices are just ridiculous most of the time and there customer service aint that good either, used them twice, first time they send me wrong item, 2nd time they couldnt even supply the item even after changing my order several times.

Another good place to check out but there selection isnt always brilliant is Lambdatek

Few examples of the overpricing of Scan im referring to

Corsair Dominator 2GB (2x1) 1066mhz 5-5-5-15 timings Scan 38.69 CCL 34.51

ATI HD4870 Scan 175.84 CCL 171.15

and so far ive only seen a few pence i could save using scan over ccl

In my experience with both of them, Tiger has slightly lower prices & faster shipping times, but Newegg has a better selection.
