I'm looking for a card ideal for a 17" 1024x764 res. I know that I can spend loads and 'futureproof', but what would suit that res now?

ati radeon HD 3870/nivida 8800gt (varying on tastes)
What's your budget? Anyway, the 4830 is probably the best card for the money right now since it's around 100$ or you could go with the 9800GT which is slightly worse but possibly you could get it for less(doubt it but it's possible)Auraknight1
ah but an 8800 or 3870 is slightly cheaper and the preformance is only a mild step down.
No, get the 4830 since it's the same price as the 4670 and it beats the 9800gt and def beats the 9600gt. If you just have to get NVIDIA go with the 9800gt thenMaybe I'll just go for a low-ender like a 4670/9600 gt but get a real nice cpu. I can always easily upgrade the gfx card in a year .

Is the 4850 less than the 4830?No in UK 4670 half price of 4830! But I think I'll just go with a 4850.

But the Palit 4850 is only £115. Which is better value for money? Also take into account that the mobo I'm planning to get has crossfire compatibility.

Well in that case with the CF mobo definitely get the Palit 4850 and then you could get another one later on and have almost the performance of a single gtx280! (4850>>>>>>>>>>9800gt)Please Log In to post.
