Hello every one, I just got a lot of money in giftcards for Best Buy and want to use it to help me upgrade my CPU. I want a new good proccessor, some RAM, and a new motherboard if neccessary to get good quality of the previous two items. I want all of this as cheap as possible, but also effective enough to run pretty much everything on the market at at least medium settings. My DxDiag is in the next post. Ask for any additional info if you need it. Thanks for your time.

You have an old processor, if you want to upgrade it, you will also need a new motherboard. It all depends on how much you have to spend.

Any idea on how much you are willing to spend? A budget always helps when shopping for a PC.

Alright, I'd like to stay within the 150-200 dollar range. But of course it will probably go over.

Ok, I think I found what you need, but I recommend not getting the RAM from Best Buy because it sells for $80 when you can get it online for nearly 1/2 that price. You're also going to need to go a bit over your budget, even with ordering the RAM from Newegg. Thank you very much. This looks like what I was looking for. I'll leave this up for a few more people to comment on and add too. Thanks again. Btw, my inspiration to upgrade my CPU came from a mod for Battlefeild 2 called, Project Reality. Such a great mod I just had to be able to play it smoothly. Ever heard of it?

Yup, used to play Project Reality a few years ago. Great mod. And seeing how much you like mods (based on you wanting Project Reality, your Third Age TW sig, and your Oblivion icon), I highly recommending playing Nehrim mod for Oblivion if you haven't checked it out yet. It's a total conversion of Oblivion and makes it a brand new game, which I've heard is much better than Oblivion's Single Player.

Anyways, glad I could help. Enjoy your updated PC!

Alright I'll definantly have to try that out. heard about that a WHILE ago before it was done. And yes I love mods haha. PR accually came out with a new update last week I think it was. Really shaping up to be incredible. I can't even imagine what that mod is going to acheive when they hit version 1.0. There at .95 right now. If you ever get back into Project Reality let me know, we could squad up. That is if you don't mind the fact I don't have a mike and have horrible aim. I'm only good for suppresive fire really. Well thanks again for the help.
