Best Cinematic

Company of Heroes feels like Saving Private Ryan with its cinematics.

The Splinter Cell Series also has great Mission Impossible-like scenes. 

my best cinematics, if i don't go far back in time is C&C3 ... with the compaign they make the immersion really good and really adictive to play, they are the most important part of making a good story...

they aren't so well done, kinda too scripted, but they really do a good job as part of the story

... i somehow remember a little bit the WoW and Farcry cinematics they were good too (in my memory) 

Well, Blizzard cinematics are top-notch, specifically those from Diablo 2 and Starcraft (I love when the terrans get jumped by Zerg on the science vessel).

After that, I thought that the Hitman cinematics were well done in most of the games, especially Blood Money.  I also want to mention Independence War 2; they were possibly the highest quality renders ever.

And if we are talking about live cinematics, then it no doubt goes to the entire C&C series, with Act of War following a long behind (poor, poor acting but an A for effort).

The cinematics from the Thief games are truly awesome - although the 3d ones from Deadly Shadows were horrible. Just watch the ones from the first two games - although they are highly spoilerific.

What else...Grim Fandango? Full Throttle? Gabriel Knight? Max Payne? There are plenty of games with great cinematics. 

definitely dawn of war - it's not just incredibly high quality from a technical perspective, but it's also brilliant content - really gets me in the mood to kill stuff

just about everything from blizzard is brilliant too - again, it's not just technically impressive, there's also a real cinematic quality to it all, diablo 2/warcraft 3 are especially great

besides those, little really wows me - with most games, they're either technically impressive with bad content or awkward voicing, or  just the opposite - blizzard consistently hits the sweet spot so i'd put them as the #1 company, but i'd say dawn of war is easily the single best cinematic - easily

the cinematic intro of Dark Messiah kicks ass!

I agree - Blizzard really goes all out on the cut scenes.

   All from Blizzard are awesome cinematics, and the CG's from Dawn Of War (Blurs Studios) & Mark Of Chaos or Hellgate are great too.

   In console, Capcom stuff (Robot studio, Onimusha, Bio Hazard, etc), Namco (all the intros and endings from the Tekken series and the intros from Soul Edge/Blade and Soul Calibur II and III) and of course, from Square-Enix (Final Fantasy, Chrono Cross, Kingdom Hearts... ).

wow, what a cool topic! I collect CG intros/trailers/cutscenes too! When i go home after few days I try to add here something.

What's not mentioned here are Area 51 cutscenes! Least for PC those were fantastic! I liked Age of Empires 2 intro which inspired me to search such CG intros. What else... Desperados: Wanted Dead or Alive cinematics were good. Panzer elite actions were good (if im not confusing something).

Here are my choices:

- Final cutscene of MechWarrior 2 Mercenaries (the Battle of Tukayyid cutscene, pretty awesome)

- All of the Warcraft 3 cutscenes (specially the one were Arthas kills his father)

- The Diablo 2 cutscenes

- C&C Tiberium Sun: the cutscene were the Mammoth Mk II enters the base shooting its railguns

- The opening cutscene of MechWarrior 3

- And the best one in my opinion, the opening cutscene of MechWarrior 4 Vengeance (man, those mechs look absolutely real)

most overlook warhammer 40k cinematics, they may actuallly be just in game units moving and speaking, but they are still vey good. especially the end cinematic for warhammer 40k dawn of war (original) that was a great cinesmatic. also, CnC 3 tiberium wars, has some amazing cineamtics.

i almost forgot about dark messiah of might and magic. the way the story unfolds in the cinematics is amazing. then all halo games have good ones also.

The Opening Cutscene of Quake 3 and all the cinematics in Blood Omen:Legacy Of Kain spring to mind

The Urban Chaos intro was pretty sweet too

You can take any Blizzard game and the cinematics will be great! StarCraft - ground breaking graphics for it's time with a huge sense of humour! WOW: Burning Crusade - amazing graphics with intense effects. So in terms of cinematics related to game play, Blizzard is king!

 But for trailers and teasers... the cinematics for Halo: 3 and Halo: Wars are top notch!
