I've been looking for an awesome set of bass headphones that has really clear audio for home use, either 5.1 or 7.1. I can't seem to find any no matter where I look. Around £70 or lower would be good, but I could probably stretch to £80 if need be.

EDIT: Sorry, I did mention home use. I guess that wasn't enough. I'll be using it for music on my PC pretty much, I allready have a gaming headset I'm happy with for my consoles. I just want some headphones for playing music (rock and dubstep mainly), hense wanting clear sound and good bass. Style is preferable, i'd rather not have big, heavy looking plain black headphones, and i'll be using them in a quiet envioronment.

Forget the 5.1/7.1 headphones, they are guff. Also, be a little more explicit as to what you are going to use them for. You could look at the sticky thread above for some good advice. You could always just go to Amazon.com (the US site not the UK as it's cheaper even with shipping) and order a pair on Audiotechnica ATH-AD700's. The best open backed headphones with decent neutral bass and a decently wide soundstage for your price point.

Audio-Technica ATH-AD700's are NOT good for bass. You are right, though, we have no idea for what he or she is using them. My advice is to read the Headphone FAQ at the top of the A/V forum, then come back and let us know: You traveling with these? Using them at the gym? Just at home? In a quiet or loud environment? Is style important? Do you have a big head? The more information you provide, the better feedback you will receive. Boz

You still don't want the ATH-AD700's. Open-back headphones like the ATH-AD700s are not great for bass-heavy content. There is a closed-back version of the prior headphones, the ATH-A700's, that will give more bass emphasis, but I wouldn't use them, either. Instead, consider the ATH-M50's. They are very, very well regarded, an excellent value, bass-heavy, comfortable, and relatively stylish (i.e. not gigantic). They're a bit outside your price range, but I think you'll be pleased with the results. If that's just too pricey, consider the JVC HARX900 or the Sony MDR-XB500, depending on your local availability. The latter is exceptionally bassy (the XB in the model number stands for "extra bass"). Both look pretty ridiculous though, in my opinion. As an aside, if you'd rather have earbuds the V-Moda Bass Freq earbuds are very, very good, if a bit fragile. Still, the price is great and they have wonderful, smooth bass, while being very portable. Good luck, Boz

Thanks alot for the suggestions! I'll keep an eye on the ATH-M50's, they seem like just what I was looking for. I'll just have to save up a bit longer but I'm sure it will be worth it. Many thanks. :)

The M50s might be a little out of his price range. I believe Shure/Sony have some good alternatives.

Shure SRH750DJ's are a good alternative.

Sony? I hope you're not talking about the XB series...

The Sony XB series - known as the "extra bass" series - is fine if you're a bass head. They're not balanced headphones, nor are they meant to be.

The Shure SRH750DJ are more expensive than the Audio Technica ATH-M50, so it's not a great alternative unless the Audio Technica's are not available in the OP's region.

Outside that I still recommend the JVC or XBs as inexpensive alternatives. I'll probably be picking up the HARX900s myself, in the near future.

I found the ATH-M50 to be a bit lacking in bass for my tastes.

Quantity quality for bass when it comes to critical listening, usually. If that's how you consider good bass though, then look to Sony's XB series.
