I'm looking for a good CPU cooler for this board ASUS 990FX and i dont know any good coolers out there. I have an AMD Phenom II 965 BE, if that'll help.

Also i'm trying to find a good SSD preferably around 256GB.

Good as in performance, or good as in value? If it's the former, get the D14 or the Kuhler 920. If it's value, get the Hyper 212+ or the Thermaltake Frio OCK, or the vanilla version if that's your budget.

For a 256GB SSD, expect to pay big bucks for that. But if you're serious about one, get the two Corsair Force GT 120GB's or the Crucial M4 256GB. They're the best ones out right now. OCZ Vertex 3's, which are also a good performer, are suffering from stability issues, so stay away from that until word is out that it's completely fixed.

Thermalright Archon CPU if you can't afford that... Cooler Master 212+. That board like almost all high end boards can accommodate any cooler if its designed to work with the chip set. The only issue would be some ram(corsair dominator) will make it impossible to get some of the bigger coolers coolers to fit. And the larger fans/heat sinks especially ones with a push and pull system may cover the ram slots completely making replacing rams a chore. You can't go wrong with either of those coolers I recommended they are both the best in the price range and will work with your board.

I have a OCZ V3 120GB and I can say from personal experience I can say I have had no issue with it what so ever. Have heard people with issues so you're right you should be wary.

I'm looking more in performance not so much on the value side of things. Also will a AM3 CPU cooler work on the AM3+ boards?

The Crucial M4 was my first choice =)

I got the CoolIT Eco its a liquid cooler on my CPU (Intel Core I7 950 overclocked to 4.00ghz) and I stuck a extra fan over the raditor and I am getting -12c temps difference than on the original cooler I had which was a Corsair A50 cooler.

And the cool thing is it can be adapted to fit all current AMD and Intel CPUs.
