if you have vista it defrags automatically...otherwise just use the built in tool and do it every week or so. i think you can set windows up to do it automatically using scheduler

If you are using Windows Vista I wouldn't bother with another defrag program. When your PC is idle it automatically defrags the drive. You can try perfect disk but I am sure it wouldn't be free.

I've heard good things about Defraggler. ... Something like that.

Does windows 7 defrag when you're idle too? Also, I just realised, this is from 2008.

I use Auslogics as well and have been very pleased with it. Although, with a Windows 7 system I usually analyze every week only to find that it doesn't really need to be defragged.

Same. It's actually called Auslogics BoostSpeed. Excellent software. It does more than just defrag though. It's not free, but I highly recommend it. Excellent customer service.

Just setup your defrag on the default software to run every few days... I don't notice it, windows 7 has a good one and is discrete enough to not even be noticeable when it is defragging.

Auslogics is said to be the best but i use Defraggler. It allows you to defrag specific files and you can watch it defraging like the old windows one.

I believe that smart defrag is currently the best out for free but I can't say I am 100% sure.
